Hello all,

I have an Corsair Carbide 300R case but the usb 3 connector is way to stiff so i cant fit it in the usb 3 socket without bending the pins. I searched over all websites for 90 degree angled or ribbon cables without luck. Is there someone in the netherlands or EU that can make me a cable like this? or someone that knows where i can buy one?

Greetings,

Paul

This seems to be a popular request, but on searching it seems the 'stiffness' comes from the shielding that's required by the USB3.0 Spec :( Only thing we can really hope for is that the manufacturers stick the ports at a 90 degree angle on the board edge :(

(but even that might be part of the spec to make it perpendicular, i'm not sure)

Please do let me know if you find anything as I'm still very interested in this myself.

Well. my motherboard is on RMA atm. but when it was there it did not fit right. the connector was so stiff it pulled the whole connector on the motherboard down. so i didnt want to leave it connected. tinytomlogan you got a carbide too right? my connector is on the under side of the motherboard. if you try to bend to cable to that posistion you will see it will pull way to much down. here is a picture of my motherboard:

why not try and work it to the proper angle by folding the cable I know its stiff but that should help it hold its shape after its been worked a little. I know the one on my switch is a little stiff as well but after its been there a bit it seems fine. I find myself checking it when I have the case opened lol. maybe a ideally located ziptie will assist you as well.

Hate to state the obvious but if thats the case with your cable why not use one of the side routing holes?

Ive been out to the garage and tried what ones I still have and they are no stiffer than other cables. Probably just bad installation / config your end mate.

I use an adapter to plug it into usb2 instead.

It's an option if you don't need the extra speed.

One of the reasons why I love the MSI motherboards grabbed my buddy a gd55 and fell in love with the layout they make it really easy for you and put the USB3 in a area where the cable will be most well hidden. On my $400 Asus Maximus IV the USB3 is in the most retarded and awkward position(Next to PCIE Slots*facepalm*) therefore I just ignore the thing.

/b/rotip my buds gd55 was $95..................................................... ffffuuuuu-
