Hello, I have just finished applying a new thermal paste to my intel core i7-2600k. I have the intel turbo boost utility to monitor my clock speed, but it turns out that after my startup, my clocks wont go below 3.60ghz. And before I have reapplied my paste it usually is around 3.40ghz which is the stock speed. I did not overclock it because I do not know how. I am worried though. Can someone help me return to my base speed of 3.40ghz? Thanks

It turns out I have been a victim of the Presentation Font Cache running in my background which is hidden deeper from the simple "Processes" tab in the windows task manager.

If you have suddenly noticed you have high cpu activity withouth doing anything, try going to the task manager, click the show processes from all users checkbox and try to find it. It turns out to actually be a "bug" from an application.

Hope I could help, I was able to solve my problem, hope I could someone out there :D cheers!
