Upgrading CPU

I currently have a i7 3820 but am wanting to upgrade to something more overclockable.

what are my options? am I restricted to what I can upgrade to?

Specs are in my sig area..

Any advice would be appreciated

hmm I've been told by a few people that if I want to be able to over clock id have to upgrade, i dunno if that's true or not.

Is there anything else that could benefit from a upgrade or do you think my systems fine as it is?

you have a pretty good rig mate i don't think you would see that big a performance boost, for the money you would spend upgrading.an yeah thats not an unlocked cpu, but i am sure there is a way of getting a little or performance out of it.i can't help you with that though sorry mate

No you can OC now but if you do not know how to OC and never done it before i suggest not doing so. X79 OC with the bclk which effects everything on the board.

The 3820 actually is pretty overclockable... Just read guides about how to go about it.

If you do really want to change, go for a 3930k if you want to keep the motherboard, of probably wait for Haswell and go for a 4770k

thanks guys, now that i think about it ive never had anything that this machine cannot run, i play games and sometimes livestream from it and its never given me any problems. It was either a CPU upgrade or a upgrade to a Iphone 5 lol

thanks again for your input, ill see further down the line when something new is available like the above mentioned "Haswell".

Instead of upgrading to the Icrap why not buy a big ssd or another gpu? Or maybe even a higher res display?

ive only had this monitor a matter of weeks.

Now a bigger SSD is a nice idea or another gpu to match hmmm

More worth it than a phone IMO, you've obviously been thinking about upgrading so mine as well do something to feed your itch!
