upgrade

hey guys, I currently have a i5 2500k and I am wandering whether to upgrade to a i7-3770k, I mainly game but would like in the future to do some game recording, do you think it would be a worthwhile upgrade to take

What motherboard are you using? if it isn't Compatible with a 3770k then its definitely not worth it. If you need a new motherboard go for a haswell cpu, i think prices for a 4770k are very similar to a 3770k.

ivy bridge isn't much of an upgrade from sandy bridge TBH 10-15% gains in cpu performance MAX. if thats a worthy gain for you then fair enough.

There isn't really any games which a sandy bridge cpu will have any trouble with TBH.

if its just for gaming then put your money into getting a better gpu, you will be much happier an see a performance boost

thanks for the replies

I was thinking about getting 2 7970's, but I read somewhere that with the 2500k it would bottleneck is that correct ?. as for overclocking I would love to have a go at it but not sure how. I have a gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD5_B3 motherboard, I did try using the easytune software but it would always fail, but that isn't overclocking properly, it all looks rather intimidating to me

if your going to overclock do it properly through your bios, there are plenty of guides that will help you out with that.

i highly doubt that a 2500k would be a bottlekneck for anything, especially if you overclock it. The 2500k is still a fantastic processor.

if you are going to overclock, Tom has done an amazing video about gigabyte socket 1155 overclocking which will be right up your street.

in mobile at the moment so it's pain staking to find the video, in sure though someone will post it.
