Hello,

I'm looking to upgrade my current pc which is :

Intel Core i3 2120 - 3.30GHz
MSI Z77MA-G45 Intel Z77
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 1.5MB - 772 MHz core, 1544 MHz shader
Corsair Vengeance 8GB - 1600MHz
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
NZXT Havik 140
Corsair Builder Series CX 600W
Cooler Master Elite 430 with x4 bitfenix spectre 120mm

I was thinking of upgrading to:

i7 4770 haswell - stock
Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP Intel Z87
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 1.5MB - 772 MHz core, 1544 MHz shader
Corsair Vengeance 8GB - 1600MHz
Corsair 60GB Force Series LS SSD
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
NZXT Havik 140
Corsair Builder Series CX 600W
Corsair Vengeance Series C70

The total cost of the upgrade would be £510.12. Which includes the processor , motherboard, SSD and new case.

Would I noticed a big difference between an i5-4670K and an i7-4770?

What do you guys think, if you were to upgrade this system would you do that same?

Thanks for looking.

In terms of gameplay you wouldn't notice any difference between the 4770 and 4670k. I'd reccomend getting a bigger ssd as well with the money saved from buying a 4670k

Different case because i find it too expensive and ugly(my opinion) for the cost. Run a K intel CPU just so you can undervolt it if uninterested in OC'ing. Grab an i5-4670k

Buy the biggest size SSD as possible. Makes a difference in speed and longetivity.

id probably just drop in a 3770k in your current mb, sell your 580 and put the difference to a 770?

I would think about doing that with a 3570k and a 770.

From what you've proposed though:

-A 120gb SSD would be a better choice. Get a Crucial M4 or Samsung 840 Pro.

-4670k rather than the 4770.

-Personally, the C70 wouldn't be my case of choice as it is pretty expensive for what it is, but still isn't bad at all.

-I'd go for a slightly better motherboard since the D3HP doesn't support SLI. Maybe spend a little more and get the normal DH3? or the MSI GD45? Or if you can spend a little more maybe the UD3H? Worth looking into anyway.

It's always my mentality with PCs that spending an extra £20 here or there gets you a fair bit better performance, so if you can save money here or there on a case and going for the i5 rather than the i7, then getting a better board and overclocking it, you'll end up with a faster rig since you'll probably never use the hyperthreaded cores.

For gaming I would go with a 3570k, keep the motherboard you have, sell the 580 and buy a 770 or AMD equivalent, new gen AMD are being anounced now and will release shortly. I would buy an SSD with at least 240 or 256GB. I have a samsung 840 pro and highly recommend it if you can fit it in your budget. The case would be the last thing to consider and if your budget isn't large enough you can delay the case a month or two as it won't improve performance.

Im with the stay Ivy Bridge suggestions. A 3570K is still a bad ass gaming chip and will save you not only money but also time and hassle having to possibly reinstall your OS. Get you a GTX770 after selling the GTX580 and youd have a whopper of a gaming rig that would handle anything at 1920x1080 at max settings.

Wait for AMD too release more GPUs before buying one.. mine as well get the latest tech when it's only less than 2 months away(290x is less than a month).

Hi was after some advice on what would be the best budget 1155 z77 mobo for me to get if anyone has any suggestions would be appreciated thanks
