upgrade itch

Given that the 8350 and the 8320 are pretty much the same chip, I'd take the money sensible option and run with the 8320. You have the H100i cooler to keep your OC in check so you should be able to reach 4ghz.

yeah i really wanted to wait, but as it stands its not looking great for steamroller making it out next year

they won't release new CPUs in 2014? what the hell.

Kaveri is pushed back to 2014 apparently, and there's no "big" steamroller Opterons planned so that doesn't look good for an 8 core FX desktop chip. Then, on the other hand Intel have nothing new planned for 2014 on the desktop either, just a "Haswell Refresh". Not a good time to be a PC hardware enthusiast.

Although, on a practical level, it's not necessarily a problem, considering most CPUs from Intel and AMD give good performance in games when paired with a good GPU. Then given the fact that games going forward likely aren't going to be CPU intensive.

Anyway, I say go for it and do the upgrade, if you wait around for the next greatest thing to come out, you'll never upgrade. :p

8320s can't generally be as highly clocked though, must be said. I believe you have to be very lucky to find a 8320 that can go to 5ghz which most 8350s out there can go 5 and above.

-edit- I reached 4.1 on my 8320 with no issues whatsoever and I have a seidon 120m on cooling duty so I'll hazard a guess that you can get ~4.5ghz if you get the '320.

if one can't get 4.1ghz out of a recent cpu one lost the lottery hard.

thanks for the input guys i am gonna go for it, i need to throw myself into a project as i need it at the mo, life sucks but the world doesn't stop for anyone.

i will be getting the mobo and cpu tomorrow, as i said earlier given bills permit it. then i will be collecting the parts, for the custom loop. i will try an do a build log (never done one before so bare with me), an i am sure i will be asking questions about the loop (as it is my first one)

right so i have ordered my cpu and mobo from aria, as the dreaded bills have allowed me some spending money
