Upgrade from hd6770

Here goes...

My rig currently has an hd6770 in it. As I see it this is kinda a bottleneck given the specs >_> (the RAM might be too but let's deal with things one at a time)
So I'm considering upgrading and I need some advice or suggestions.

I also have a question or two;
What's the main difference between the 6000 and 7000 series of cards?
Does anyone know how - on the nVidia side - the 560 compares to the 650 or the 660?

My budget is around the £150 mark.

Thanks in advance
TC

Looking at your system specs, nothing is "bottlenecking" you.

Are you happy with the fps you get? If so then no need to upgrade.

If not then get the 7850

I guess. Isn't the 6770 kinda low-end though?

How exactly do the 7000 series compare to the 6000 series?

My PSU is an OCZ 750W. In retrospect this is probably overkill. Given that the fans are all connected directly and the slight overclock (stability debatable :/ ), what would be more appropriate?

The lower end 6000 series cards were more budget cards and were beaten by their 5000 series counterpart, 7000 series are a big improvement

Interesting. Thank you all for the advice.

From this my understanding is that a 7000 series card is better than its 6000 series counterpart in terms of performance, and will quite happy eat a 580. How are they in terms of power consumption?

I am aiming to play the Crysis series of games, and other more modern shooters on this system. On High settings. Would my 6770 cope, or am I better off upgrading to a 7850/7870?

Thanks again :)

Your 6770 would really struggle so you are better off upgrading.

The 7850 and 7870 are very power efficient.
I would suggest getting a non-reference version though to save on your ears :)

As for the 580 - I wouldn't really say 'eats' - I don't really think there will be that much of a difference.

I have my 7850 overclocked to 1200MHz on the core, and a small VRAM increase (which doesn't do much at all, incidentally), and it can play the first Crysis at around 37-40FPS, which to me is just fine. That's with all settings maxed on a 1080p monitor.
