Hey guys! My name is Lee and I am new to your forums. However I have been watching Toms youtube videos for quite a while. I have a question regarding my rig. It is a i7 4930k on a Asus Rampage IV Black edition board. I am currently in the process of overclocking the processor to 4.5ghz well trying to... I am at a stable 4.4 right now with a core voltage of 1.29 and am struggling to get to 4.5 stable. I know that each processor is different and like playing the lottery as overclocking goes. I have a h100i with 4 Cougar vortex fans in a push pull config with temps at around 70 degrees C on a full load using prime95. If I were to install a custom loop for water cooling do you think I will be able to push it to atleast 4.5ghz or maybe higher? I don't want to really go to high on the voltage and run upwards of 85 C for the temp. I guess what I need to know is that will it be worth the money and the upgrade based on the current results that I am achieving with the h100i, or am I just stuck with a processor that wont go any higher?

Do you really need to run @4.5ghz ?
I used to use a H100 on my 3960X, when benching for short periods I could run @4.9 to 5.0ghz. I then changed to a proper custom water loop and the temps dropped by about 10C but it made no difference to the max overclock I could get.
For normal use I just run @4.0ghz which I find is plenty.
If you do go down the custom waterloop route, it will look better, it will run a bit cooler and it may or may not give a little bit more performance at a given voltage.
You have spent a lot of money on the 4930k and RIVE BE, for that reason alone I would say get a proper custom waterloop on it, they do look nice.
As they used to say on Blue Peter, here is one I did earlier.

Thank you for the reply. Nice looking setup you have there! Is that a xspc water block? I really think a closed loop setup would look amazing in my rig. I have a Cosmos 2 case so I have plenty of room. I also am running 2 Gtx Titans in sli with the sli pro evga bridge and it looks awesome. The fans throughout the case are all cougar green led which gives off a great look. If I decide to do a loop I'm thinking of a d5 variable pump, 2 240mm rads in the bottom and a single 360 on the top. I know that's overkill for a CPU but I can upgrade the Titans to a water block down the road. Is that enough cooling for a CPU and 2 graphics cards?

The question for me is, if you don't have any temperature issues in any other part of the PC, is it really worth spending that sort of money on a 2-3% increase in performance?
custom loops are never about performance or price/performance ratio. it's all about how badly you want it.
I would like to water cool the Titans. One of them runs a little hotter than the other because I am running 3 asus vg278he monitors at 144hz. 2 of them on are one card and obviously one on the other. So because of this there is about a 20 degree difference in heat from one card to the other even at idle. I was thinking about changing the bios in the titans also so I can do some overclocking there and not have to rely on gpu boost 2.0 to ramp up and down the speeds all the time because of heat.
