Yeah my case is lit up, everything seems to have power. Ive cleared the cmos at the back of the board a few times, and yeah i got the 8 pin cpu lead in. Nightmare!

Haha

sry im on an old laptop and its doing my head in. Yeah i tryed the ram in the white and the blue slots. I tryed all 3 sticks in the first dimm also

keep swapping could be the issue mate, never good to keep taking the ram out. If you dont remove the power cable when swapping ram you can kill the ram and or the mobo.

You must use the blue slots.

take the mobo battery out for an hour go have a brew and calm down. put the battery back in and then give it another go with just 1 stick in the first blue slot.

Does sound like its the wrong ram slot issue now I know you are not getting post screen and a bios clear has not worked.

Well the battery is out now, i`ll give it 30 mins, pop a stick into the first blue slot like u say. Just read the page on memory configurations, doh! there it is in black and white. Fingers crossed

How incredibly frustrating for you. Just received all your new gear and this happens. I speak from experience here as I have had many issues with pc's over the years.

If you are getting no POST and cannot access the BIOS you may have killed the CPU also or in fact any of the critical components...let's hope not.

1) Make sure the cpu is properly seated and the cpu fan secured. Why? because I had exactly the same problem as you have now before.

2) Insert 1 stick of RAM in slot 1 or A1 w/e

3) Don't connect up all your hardware, just the GPU to see if you can see the POST and BIOS.

IF successful, then connect the HD. Don't assume your HD with OS on it will work. When you use a new MB this usually means a fresh install of OS..it did in my case. Worry about updating BIOS later if you can't see the bloody thing it's an RMA job i'm afraid.

ps

Get the Overclock video up Tom me ol' mucka i'm looking forward to it.

Just had the battery out for long enough and tryed with 1 stick with no luck. The bloody lcd still says locked. Tryed to post with all hardwear disconected including the HDD with the same results. Ive built a few pc`s before and thought id done a really good job with the thermal paste and the H50 cpu cooler this time but i`ll refit the CPU tomorrow just in case. Looks like the only real option im gonna have soon is take the pc out into the street and run it over with the van!

I have discovered the problem, i had bent a few of the cpu pins inside the socket, Straightened them up and the pc booted up straight away. Now for the overclocking!

If you get any funny problems with the PC then it could still be the bent pins btw, sometimes getting it to boot is only half the story!

Hopefully it will be ok though.

Haha, thats happened to me once so annoying was just wracking my head for an hour till i decided to remake the whole the thing and boom boots fine o well glad all is well now

get my new gear in january hope all runs fine for me

Bent pins are such a fail, experienced it before and like you, took me AGES to figure out what it was. Glad it's sorted now though (hopefully!)
