Hi guys. First time Poster ( pls be gentle)

After a bit of Advice/Sense knocking into me. I currently run Msi gaming 980's in Sli wrapped in Ek blocks 1540/8k overclocks on them. I am Terrible for Upgrading and the seeing the 980 Ti im currently getting upgrade pangs....
I have a Rog Swift so 1440 all the way. i7 4790 (4.7 ghz) 16gb Gskill Trident on a Hero vii.
Is it Worth the Jump to 980 Tis?
Ive ran a Dk2 for Elite Dangerous and Loved it so will be buying the Cv1 on release. i dont really plan to use 4k atm but never say never.
Star Citizen will be the thing ill play the most ( hopefully with a Rift).
Im assuming the 980 water blocks wont fit the Tis even if going for the gaming g6 msi's so there is a hassle factor of selling on my 980's refitting stock cooler new blocks etc.

Thanks for any Advice in Advance

Short answer is No. Just stick with the 980s, they are decent cards and at those clocks you will be fine at 1440p.

Though if you absolutely cant keep it in your pants, you should still be able to offload those 980s for around 70% of what you paid for it. Then just grab a 980ti when the price drops occur.

If you didnt have the Swift I would have just recommended you go with AMDs flagship instead. Since you are interested in using the rift.

End of the day mate, if you can afford it and you want it then hell yes go for it! Not sure if there's a difference between 980 and Titan X water blocks but as the 980Ti is a Titan X with a chunk switched off then you will need Titan X blocks for the 980Ti.

Do you need it? No. But then life is too short to only worry about what you need!

No I personally don't see it as worth it. Not only would you need to sell your 980s and blocks(assuming you are) and then spending money on 980ti's, but then blocks as well. Also since the new AMD cards are due to be released in 10 days, I would personally wait to see what they have to offer if any upgrade is to happen.
