Also turn TC off ;) then set a time

Alright, went with the setup MrKambo posted, 85% stability, no TC, ABS on. I'm driving with a Driving Force Pro.

Guess I'd better get back on it!
I been playing with car dynamics, changing a setting or two, can make a dramatic difference to the car

I think we need to make a setup and everyone uses it

let's talk steering wheels?
i want to treat myself with a nice racing setup for christmas and so far i've been looking at the g27 and some stuff by fanatec. a 7 speed shifter is mandatory because what is driving worth if you can't change gears properly, same applies to a proper set of pedals.
fanatec has some nice stuff, a set of theirs would come in at 350-450 euros, so quite a bit more than the g27. (Forza Motorsport CSR wheel (don't like porsche all that much), CSR pedals, clubsport shifter EU (the csr one is sequential and looks ghastly)) 430euros
what do you guys use, any other recommendations? price/performance isn't all that important.

Fanatec is for the true driver, their gear is so highly regarded its unreal!!! Anything by them is awesome!!!
Or the T500rs from thrustmaster, that's the wheel and shifter set I've got and it's miles ahead from the G27 in terms of tech and I like using it a lot it's very comfortable and use to use and set up

fanatec have some deals as well, 250 euros for the 911 wheel, csr shifter and csr pedals. i'll take a look at the t500rs, i will really need to fight myself to not drop more than 400 euros on a set because that clubsport shifter is damn sexy.
/edit
the t500rs is 450 euros and doesn't come with a shifter, so that's 600 euros with a proper shifter. will be hard to justify that :(

If you're buying fanatec. Don't desk mount it!! Has to be in a proper setup otherwise it's wasted money!!

ah well that's that then. just started with race sims so it's probably not worth it to drop a couple thousand on a proper setup. currently tending to the g27 again, seems to be a sweetspot for beginners.

if you can stretch to the T500, it is that damn good!

do you have a separate h shifter?

with the T500? yeah i do, its awesome!

think the G27 has it built into a unit, also actually this is worth noting, the G27 H shifter is more widely supported than the T500rs.

because the thrustmaster shifter uses another input a game has to to be able to assign separate buttons to each gear, but with the G27 because its all through one USB alot more easier using H shifter

The G27 is like the AK-47. Old, reliable, popular and still made even though it is ancient. Totally the best one out there that doesn't break the bank IMO.

i found a little fun thing which even though it doesn't work properly made me very happy. you can use the showroom on all of the racetracks as well by copying the tracks from assettocorsa/content/tracks to assettocorsa/content/showroom and then editing the configfile showroom_start.ini in documents/assetto corsa/cfg where you just change track= to any track you have in your showroom folder.
unfortunately it really only works with silverstone, which is probably a coincidence because even on silverstone the render distance cuts off the map. on other tracks you will just end up somewhere over or under the map.
why does it make me happy? finally a game that doesn't slap me in the face for editing config files and using maps where they aren't supposed to be. :D
/edit
just saw that there is another config file in assettocorsa/cfg which is named the same. idk what happens when you edit the config file, maybe it then uses the tracks when the showroom is launched from ingame or it is just a backup file like in cod4.

pagani zonda r incoming

i'm really sad that i didn't get access to pCars when i could though, it looks a lot better than AC and has a lot more content as well :(

oh my god guys, that update. i am creaming myself.
pagani, framerate limit, 8x AA, world detail, fov slider, the new tracks, oh god i am so happy.

/edit
mugello is my new favorite race track and all of the new cars are amazing. fov 70 seems about right
also there now is a tuning kit for the e30, more colors and a second showroom which is kinda retarded because it's just a parking lot with a poorly taken 360 degrees picture around it
