will i need a coolant for my cpu ?

Not every cpu can be unlocked dude, its not a freebie on every cpu, and it sometimes wont work at all.

You also need a compatable motherboard.

What are your full system specs and what is your back ground knowlege with PC's and overclocking like?

i have good knowledge of PC's but have never done overclocking yet...

dis will be my first time overclocking or unlocking...

the board does support core unlocking within the bios according to the msi website.

enter bios menu> CELL MENU> and change the UNLOCK CPU CORE into auto and enable ACC (advanced clock calibration)

i've been through

phenom x3 720

phenom x2 550

and both of them have not unlocked and they were some of the earlier ones released.

so had to clear cmos again...

where m i goin wrong ?

the cpu you are trying to unlock has broken or defunctional locked cores so it's staying as a dual core and there is no other way around it.

To market the chip as a X2, AMD either disabled the other two cores or they were no good. Sounds like you god one with bad cores and thats why you can't unlock. No fault of AMD or the shop, unless the shop told you that it could be "definitely" unlocked. If you definitely want a 4 core chip then you have to buy a 4 core chip, otherwise its just a matter of luck when it comes to unlocking a X2.

Hard luck den :(

Will try again doin sum changes in bios again...

otherwise have o work with 2 cores..no option

thanx for all d replies guys
