TBH

I had the technological white paper drop onto my desk 8-9 years ago for this and have been waiting ever since.

If it comes out and is more expensive than ANY television or monitor currently made then I will have proof that they are screwing us over. I have the manufacturing costs of the cells (3 LEDs) and the controller boards are almost nothing anyway. Then screen size limit of plasma (due to heat) and the limit to LCD (due to address system) has no affect on OLED displays which means they should be able to be larger than ANY current display.

Costs should if done to manufacturing costs not Oooo new technology cost (mainly becuase it isn't they are just slow) the prices should see a 60" display being around the same cost as a 32" display £3-400 and that is absolute tops.

Unfortunately Sony are on the lead for this so I'm not expecting their ones to be priced correctly, only Toshiba's release should be correct.

I hate Sony's "I'm Sony, charge anything they will pay" attitude.

If anyone buys that thing they deserve to be shot. OLED has been around in MP3 players, watches and other small kit for over 2 years now functioning fine and controllers for them are no different from the ones in the back of current LCDs. Sony just suck ass.

I haven't siad their kit isn't good but its no better than any other and is therefore too much. Sony Bravia is still the best TV system but its so overpriced the only people I know that have it are a family who's Dad works for their R&D team. Even a friend who runs an international printing firm refuses to spend that much when he can get the same for cheaper and he is worth billions.

i like sony's quality, i have a 5.1 souround sound by them from 2003, and its exeptional.

worth every penny of the 500 quid i spent on it at the time

and i still recon it could rival a modern one for quality

Sony do do decent kit but it is overpriced. I don't think this is going to bother me, I won't be able to justify getting one until the price drops in quite a few years

never had a single problem with anything Sony I've owned and yes I did buy a mini disc player back in the day

Needless to say a Sony OLED TV is high on the list of 'things Ayd must have'

Funny you should mention it. I found my Sony MD player in a bag yesterday. Popped it on charge and was listening to some old tunes last night :P

For me, Sony has a style that no other manufacturer seems to be able to match. I've got a Sony AV setup, Sony Laptop, Sony (Ericsson) Mobile, Sony Camera, Sony Alarm Clock, Sony Walkman, Sony Headphones....heck i'd even have a Sony toothbrush if they made them :p

I`ll personally w8 until the likes of Samsung/Toshiba bring their efforts out. I have no doubt we`ll have these in work (for no particular reason other than they`re new) to replace the £3k or so Sony LCDs they already have.

The picture will of course be great, but the native resolution is pretty small atm.
