It was so you could buy games on Oculus, Meta app, and allow you to play them through vive VR, Valve index etc. I'm not locked to only using the MetaQuest headset.

But over time, compatibility makes it more tricky. I think there is a new app better than Revive now. Its been a while since I tried. I could be wrong, but there were ways around the locked eco system.

I have a rift S so unless there is a way to port it via app to steamVR i'll not get to play it as while exclusives are okay when they are permanent it's super annoying and when your headset is via the same company, is why i'll never buy a meta headset again as no doubt by the time they make anything newer these current quest headsets will be locked out of things as well. I do not like a standalone headset when underpowered over time and with a cable connected to my PC that gets updated dwarfs these quest headsets just a waste of money to lock into that eco system.

My real hope is a SteamLinkVR at a lower price than index and i'd instantly switch.
