Ubisoft officially reveals Assassin's Creed Valhalla

It's called a cinematic world premier TRAILER for a game that doesn't come out for like 5-6 months. Wth did you expect?
At least some gameplay on display, this is a game, not a film.

I remember trailers that used to show gameplay whether it was alpha or beta.

The whole point of a trailer is to showcase what you're actually going to play, this does not represent that.

Remember Dead Island? Trailer looked great then it turned out to be kack? That is why stuff like this shouldn't be encouraged, show us the product.

Everytime I see a game get unveiled with a huge cinematic like this, I always consider "what aren't they showing us?"

It's literally just meant for hype. They announced the game 1 day ago. Gameplay will come soon as will all the online stuff they have planned.

Witcher 3 started with a trailer. Looked how that turned out. Just no need to be pessimistic. Times have changed. Leading with a trailer doesn't indicate anything other than that's what's expected.

The last few AC games, Mainly Origins and Odyssey, Really haven't felt like AC games but rather lengthy RPG's with a feint bit of AC clamped on the side, Still really great games but don't have the AC feeling like Black Flag or the originals, I foresee the same with this, Good game but not really AC.

Sure about that? From that trailer alone I'd expect some kind of story rich RPG like the Witcher but I guarantee it will be a microtransation filled Skinner box grind-fest with a shallow story full of 2D characters.

You're just assuming everything because of your negative perception of the industry.

If you got anything from the trailer more than hidden blades are back, and Vikings vs Anglo-Saxons then you are just overly thinking everything. Not to mention the last 2 games had very little if any microtransactions.

I don't have a negative perception of the entire industry, primarily just certain developers/publishers; Ubisoft being one of them. Also, my view isn't just assumptions, its more pattern recognition than anything else.

Also the last 2 games had plenty of microtransactions, granted mostly cosmetic but in a game that's commanding full price with certain editions costing far more is insulting to the players.

An entire 4 minute trailer just to show the setting and the hidden blade? They could have done that in 30 seconds and got the same message across. This is just them going "look at the cinematics you're not going to get except for a handful of cutscenes, give us cash."
