Ubisoft has confirmed that Skull and Bones will have Single Player content

Because Uplay. And because most of their games suck terribly IMO. ;)

Console. Log in to Uplay and earn rewards for playing. Never have to look at it again.
I'd also wager you haven't played any Ubi game in a long time, how can your judgement be so harsh then? Play Rainbow Six. Fun game.

Only Ubi series I like is Far Cry, and those are getting old. Hate the Assassins Creed games, because consolitis (like that silly rewards crap). My judgement isn't as harsh as it seems, I'm just busting on Uplay because it's so awful. :) Plus Ubisoft has dropped the ball so many times over the years, I find it amazing that they're still in business.

What's wrong with the rewards? You get points for completing achievements just like Steam, steam just gives you trading cards instead.

I've always found those silly for some reason. I don't get that entire achievement system, but friends of mine with consoles are so into those things. I know guys who won't put a game down until they've gotten every single achievement. I'd just rather play the game, and I don't need those for extra motivation. Just one of those things I never got into,

I understand how you feel, but I am just saying you cannot get on Ubisoft for doing what Steam is doing. Just seems like blind favoritism to me. I don't like Uplay, it works and is stable now unlike the past, so I have nothing against it other than it's another thing on my PC that I never use.
