Turn on, turn off, turn on, blow fuse....turn on, turn.....over and over

WTF is going on. I have bought so many fuses for this damn thing my local Radio Shack is now out of stock.

When I got back from CES the unit would just turn on as soon as I plugged it in. I didn't like that so I installed the bootloader again and it shut off when I turned the computer on.

After a few minutes the compressor came on all on its own and then shut off, then back on to blow the fuse. I replaced the fuse and a few minutes later it done the same thing...blowing another fuse! Now I have it with all of the electrical unhooked from the mobo and it is still kicking on and back off then on again.

It did the same thing before if I would hook up the front LCD kit. So I just didn't install the LCD kit and it ran as it should for a couple of months. Now it is doing all of this without the LCD kit installed.

So what is going on. It has the latest firmware and all of that fun stuff. The problem has to be in the unit itself.

PS-this unit is less than a year old.

sounds possible that you have a dodgy controlly or a dodgy capacitor on the motor.

Having said all that I am of course assuming that you let the timer countdown naturally before each restart and that you are not having too many random pc restart issues or in fact using an ASUS motherboard that has a bios that completely shuts the system down even when u selct 'restart' in windows.

I can only tell you what I would do - I would take advantage of the warranty I had left and return it for inspection.

It could be a flakey control board.Do you have any warranty ?If not,to test the rest of the unit, bypass the control board by wiring the compressor to the mains supply including a fuse, obviously ensuring that your supply is the correct voltage for the compressor. If it runs ok like this for a while, then you probably have a faulty control board or wiring fault, assuming that the firmware is on correctly and all connections are correct and secure.Replacement boards are available from Phil at http://www.extremeprometeia.com

Yep, it runs fine direct. Do you have a link for the control board or know the price. I was looking on the site and don't see it.

The guys at ECT and CrazyPC are great! Everything should be taken care of before the end of next week. Thanks guys.
