Trying to setup Crysis

Hi Guys

I have finally got round to buying Crysis off steam, Installed without a problem, But everytime I try to change the settings it freezes and when I press Ctrl Alt + Del I get the message Crysis has stopped working, have tried restalling the game, but still happens

seems to play the game ok, but as soon as you touch the settings and hit Apply it freezes.

Any idea's???

Has it updated or finished updating yet? It needs some pretty hefty patching from memory.

I've heard the same complaints about Crysis in steam before tbh. IIRC that was one of the games that King of sand took Steam to court over and won lol.

It had finished installing, don't remember seeing any patches though, so maybe it didn't do them......

Hmm. Steam should do them all automatically IIRC. This was much to my annoyance when I finally got New Vegas roaring along smoothly and then they released a 'patch' that completely screwed it up for me

That's one of the things I don't like so much about Steam.

steam has its up's and downs lol its got alot better when it first came out i remember 1.6 counter strike times dam it was rubbish and such a terribly difficult game to run at lans! As for crysis not changing settings what graphics card are you using? can u try just changing the resolution and thats it?

No matter what settings I change it freezes Resolution, Key etc doesn't matter..

At the moment am using 1 x GTX580 I had two but am having to RMA one due to a fault. But 1 580 should be more than enough to run this game.

Take it your using Win 7 yer?

Install DirectX latest version from Microsoft website first

Are you using AVG? eurghhh

Step 1:

Follow the link on the first page to install Microsoft's latest DirectX, Click the link, Install the downloaded exe, Reboot.

Step 2:

Browse to your (likely same path if you're using Win7x64) C:/Users/<your account>/My Documents/My Games and right click the Crysis folder, select Properties. Select the Security Tab. Below the Group or user names box,"To change permission click Edit. Click Edit. in the Permissions for Crysis window, Security tab (only tab), Click Add. If it isn't there already, place your cursor in the Enter the object names to select type EVERYONE exactly. Click Okay, if you did everything right, you should not see any additional dialogs. Click Okay again, and once more to apply the permission change. Close the folder.

Step 3:

If you are running AVG 9, These will be exact steps, if you are running another form of Anti-Virus, you will have to figure it out based upon these instructions.

Open AVG's Resident Shield (or whatever type of active code execution prevention service your Anti-Virus might be running), Click the Manage Exceptions Button at the bottom of the window. In the left pane, if it is not already selected, select Resident Shield Directory Excludes. On the Right, Click Add Path. Browse to, and Select C:/Users/<your account>/My Documents/My Games. Click Okay. Close your AVG back to the System Tray.

hello,

try this: in your steam library games menu, right-click on crysis, click 'properties', click 'local files' then click 'verify integrity of game cache'. steam wil be busy for a moment, scanning files and stuff, then, if needed, it will download and install missing files.

my steam copy of crysis was fine on its first install

check your nvidia control pannel SLI and 3D settings are normal

im having probs with games on my pc. Batman AA used to work now and again, now it just dont want to play, I get the "pre launch" page with the read me, control and settings page etc, no matter what settings i use, i click play and nothing happens, i tried all the compability modes, run as administrator etc

just downloaded all the crysis's (all 18GB it them!!) from steam, and the wont run either, I click to play, my cpu usuage goes up to about 7-9% (im oc to 4Ghz), then it just drops back down to 1-2%, I dont get anything, like i never even tried to open it

i got the latest nvidia drivers, i havent got a GPU over clocker running. I usually have after burner and when i went to play, there would be in increase in GPU usage for a few seconds (nothing major), the it would drop back down to idle

im running W7 64, i have an EVGA GTX 275sc GPU. i have tried what was suggest in this thread and im still having no joy

please help me. as you know i am new to all this so please, big writing and pictures if you have advice
