I was wondering if it is possible to run a GTX590 with a GTX580 in tri-sli with a modified BOIS of some sort?

Thanks

Nvidia REALLY needs to change that. They already shot themselves in the foot with the stupid decision to not allow Nvidia cards as a dedicated PhysX card while an AMD as the primary (one market gone). I don't see why they cant allow tri sli with 590 and 580 like AMD does with 7970 and 7990 (another market gone).

Nvidia needs to get there act together. It was also announced Project shield will ONLY work with 6xx series and up for the game streaming. So no 5xx or lower and no AMD. WTF is Nvidia smoking!? (and yet another market gone)

It is very touch and go tbh dude. As I mentioned before it only really works with cards from the same gen and with a similar or the same core (so 470 + 480, 570 + 580 and so on). Anything else and it just bsods.

It's the work it would take on the drivers tbh. They did do it before (Hybrid SLI, read about that here)

Where you could use your board's onboard GPU strapped to a discrete one. ATI did it also, allowing you to strap your onboard GPU to your main GPU. Sadly though neither worked unless the two GPUs (your onboard and your discrete) were pretty much identical so they canned it due to the complaints.

There was that Hydra technology a couple of years back but it flopped like a high jumper doing the Fosbury tbh.
