Hello guys, I am new to the forum so be kind haha! ;)

I am planning my first build and was wondering what you guys think. I have a 1440 x 900 monitor and I have already ordered a case - its the corsair 400r ^_^ . At the moment I'm thinking this part list.

Asus z77 -v Mobo
Core i5 3570K
Corsair H60
Samsung 830 ssd 128gb
1TB Caviar Black
Corsair GS600W PSU

But i cannot decide on a gpu, i was thinking of a hd7770 but i want to max out all the games I'm planning to get ( Sleeping dogs , BF3 etc... ) or i was thinking spend an extra £40 for the hd7850???

Anyways my budget is around £800 - £900 for the components and i'm going to have to get a new keyboard and mouse in there too !

Any help, suggestions will be more than helpful!

Thanks Guys !

Sam

H60 is pointless. might as well just get a good air cooler. Also do you need an operating system coz if so you need to account for that. I know a lot of people here recomend the MSI Z77 motherboards too so they might be worth a look. As for the other stuff, looks good to me

So you have about 550-630 to get the PC excluding the case?

No I have 8-£900 for the rest of the build - sorry for not making it clear :D

Thanks for the advice though guys, as for air cooling instead of the h60 what would you recommend ?

Thanks Again

Sam

PS - I already have a windows 7 pro too so thats all good !

Change the mobo for an MSI Z77 GD55 or 65, they're the same price as the Asus Z77-V but have a lot more features and can overclock CPU's higher. Asus' Z77 boards are overpriced tbh, MSI has the best of the Z77 bunch.

Swap that H60 for something like a Havik 140

The PSU is fine but you may want to see if you can get a modular unit, something like a Be Quiet P10 550W would be great, or maybe a semi-modular unit if you can't afford a fully modular one, like a HX650 for example. Nothing wrong at all with the GS series, but having a modular or even just a semi modular unit helps a LOT with cable management.

A HD7850 would be great, or a 7870 if you can stretch that far, if not the 7850 will be perfect. Powercolor and Sapphire make great non-reference cards, they're quiet and cool, unlike the reference AMD cards which are crap and are only really needed if you're doing a full custom WC build which you are not.

Also, a new monitor would be a nice idea. Dell do great 1920x1080 IPS panel monitors, definitely worth a look.

Oh and don't forget the RAM. 2x4GB's, 1600MHz, 1.5V will be perfect. Mushkin are my favourite brand, but Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston and Crucial are good too. Just make sure they have small heatsinks on them so if the CPU cooler covers the RAM slots the RAM will still fit.

Wow thats alot of help - i just looked at the msi z77 mobos and they look great - both in terms of features and looks lol, I have a 19inch monitor because of space on my desk so thats a no go lol but great advice i think im making a part list shortly !!! :D to buy next month when there is a day called PAYDAY !

Great help once again

Sam

No problem :)

Oh, forgot to mention keyboard and mouse advice. With keyboards it's all about preference. I'd recommend you get a mechanical keyboard (i love mine), but it's all about what type of key switch you prefer, do you need macro keys, backlighting etc... If you want all the bells & whistles the Corsair K90 is awesome. It has tons of macro's, backlighting, MX Red keys and 20 key rollover, but it is expensive. If you could do without all the fancy stuff then the CM Storm Quickfire Pro is great. Hell, if you don't want mechanical keys you could go for a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 if you really wanted to.

As for mice it's the same thing really. Do you need macro's, want fancy lights and what sort of size would be most comfortable for your hands. Atm i have a Logitech LS1 laser mouse, very basic but it's the perfect size so my hand is always comfortable. However you probably want something a little bit better, so a Steelseries Kana would be my pick for a cheap but great mouse. Want something with a bit more kit? The Steelseries Sensei is the mouse for you. If you want a crap ton of macro keys on your mouse (which i don't like personally) then the Corsair M90 is great, but to be perfectly honest i wouldn't bother going for a mouse which has loads of buttons, the Kana or Sensei would be better for the majority of users.

as if you just recommended corsair peripherals let alone the mouse LMFAOOOOOO

Yeah, would be nice ruairi.C if you explained your dislike to Corsair peripherals rather than just bash them and not explain why
