Toshiba today announced a 1.8-inch drive that offers a storage capacity of 100GB; apparently it's the largest capacity for a disk of its class. Care to comment? Feel free to do so below...

do we know what spindle speed it uses?

only thing stopping me upgrading to a 120gb Notebook drive is the lack of a 7200rpm one :(

It's too small for a laptop (well the majority of them) you probably want a 2.5".

Hitachi do a 100gb one that 7200rpm.

Yea, I know :P

I was merely expressing the idea as they make these things smaller, with higher capacities, it comes at a cost. I was looking at the 100gb ones, but not sure if its worth the hassle of upgrading over the 80gb I've got atm :(

Meh, could probably hazard around 80g atm, alot of it packed (which doesn`t compact it much, if at all, just bands tracks together).

1.8 inch - ouch.

The price won`t be spectacularly nice until some1 leeches the technology and all the major manufs start making similar or better.

M$`s xbox 100g drive (due early 2007 I fink) price will blow this one out of the water tho I spect, using old technology - will give u a nice price comparison of m$ vS `the rest of the world living in reality`.

I`ve just seen the price of a Wii, and I`m getting one on general principle.
