Hello all

Been ages since my Mach 2 GT unit broke down and i havent had time to check whats wrong with it.

I think i should get it repaired as soon as i can so that either i can get clocking again or sell it(doubt).

Last time Phil told me my unit might have a leak.

If i remember well, my father while my rig was working turned down the electricity.

My pc wouldnt boot right after so i had to unplug a few plugs and put them back on so everything was fine.

(dunno if that had any effect on my rig-mk2 gt)

Finally few weeks later i turned on my rig just to find out it wouldnt boot

The evaporator temps would drop down to say 20C and then nothing...

After minutes of waiting the unit gave me the message TOO SLOW and turned itself off.

Tried several times and the same thing happened.

Took the evap head off and turned it back on and icicles would form in the evaps head but they werent that many as other times i used in the past.

Anyone got a clue whats up with my unit?

Is Nventiv up and running again?i ve been "away" for a long time so i got no idea whats happened ever since.

I spoke to hipro5 (some of you may know him from XS etc) and he told me to take it over at his house to have a look at it and he would sort it out hopefully and probably regass it with R507a(iirc) for max performance...its been ages till then and i havent contacted him for ages now so i am a bit worried if ill ever be able to repair my unit.Thing is i dont live in the UK any longer...

thanks in advance.

I think you've got both Hipro and Unseen as well over there.

Both would be capable of helping you.

It could be sent back to the UK, to Phil at the shop, but I don't know how much the postage would cost, and there's always the risk of damage on a long round trip.

At least it should be pretty easy to see what's up. If it's getting cold, it's a control problem. If it's not getting cold at all, and the compressor is running (which, if the compressor is NOT running, could also be a control problem) then it's likely a coincidence that it happened when the power was just shut off and it's likely leaked out.

If you're unsure how to check if it's running right, then one of the guys in Greece would be good to talk to. At least so you could be sure about what exactly is broken before you take the steps to fix it.

But really, if the display tells you it's not getting cold, and the compressor is running, and you can see there's no ice on your evap head, then it's likely a leak.

If you have ice on it, but it's not saying it's getting cold, controller problem most likely, possibly probe but unlikely.

If you have no ice, but the compressor isn't even humming, then you have to make sure about whether the compressor is even getting power, and if it is, then the compressor could have died, if it's not getting power then the control board may not be switching it on properly.

Hope it helps with knowing what to check for, if you want more specific help just PM me and I can give you my phone number and can try to talk you though some of the checks :)

Thanks for the replies...yes hipro told me he would sort it out months ago though and i havent spoken with him ever since.

The compressor would fire away , evap temps start to drop and then remain @ say 17C...then they may start rising a bit and come to a stop again.

The evap head tube gets very cold to the touch and icicles built in the evaporators head.

SOmeone reccomended me a bios flash in the past...i guess it may not be a leak after all right?probably a controller issue?

And if it is a controller issue...then i kiss my mach 2 GT goodbye as Nventiv is shut so no spare parts can be found?

Well if there's ice on the evap and it's not reading past 17c, then controller or probe issue for sure.

I've never had a probe go faulty on a mach unit that way, so very likely a controller issue.

If you power the unit up, and connect it to a pc (just attach the usb connector to a working pc after loading the program and drivers to it) and update the firmware (all of the programs and firmware can be found here in the FAQ section of the main site) and see if it's just corruption.

If you're lucky that's it, will be fully operational after that.

If not, Phil here can get you a replacement board, just PM him for pricing. The parts are still available :) don't worry.

Cheers

yeah i see.

will try that when i have some free time...

So far i have been told that mach 2s had probs with their temp probe...so they were reading wrong temps in the display etc...replacing the probe sorted their problems out etc...

Yeah, I've had problems on occasion with probes as well, just normally I never see one hold such a high temp when it failed. That's the main reason I suspect controller more than probe.

But if you can reflash it, at least it rules out corrupt firmware.

I'm sure that big Phil can source the replacement probes as well, and I think I'd be inclined to test and confirm it's definitely not the probe too, as it's a fair bit cheaper than a board.

But I'm sure Hipro will have a probe and a board you could use to check it out, then decide what to do from there :)

hello again guys...

i need your help once more...

i brought my unit back home to test it after many months since it broke down.

I installed the molex connector of the Mach 2 GT with my pcs...and right away it fired up...

started droping its evaporator temps and it dropped down to -59Cand -60C

Icicles formed in my evaporators head as the unit wasnt installed with my rig

i installed the usb cable in my motherboard and i flashed the firmware with the latest v931? or something...

it went flawlessly and i tested the unit about 4 times...all of them the evaporator temps dropped down to -60C

i tried to measure with an aquarium thermometer the evaporator heads temperature and at some point it read -10C

I guess my unit is working without problems now just like that???

how does it sound to you?

its a bit weird what you think?

Last time the evaporator temps wouldnt drop but stayied at about + 17C

and then the too slow error message appeared shutting down my unit...

now after many months being put away i fire up and the unit works fine...upgraded its firmware just to be sure...

I didnt install my mach 2 gt in my rig as i aint got time cos its watercooled nowadays but i suppose after firing up 4 times and letting it operate for 5 minutes and the evaporators temperature dropping down to -60C is a good sign?

with just the USB cable connected ad the molex connector

firing the Control software it flashed an ERROR message ...i suppose it is normal since i didnt have my unit properly installed with my system or there is definitely something wrong with my unit???

Many thanks once more

heres a pic of the evaporator while the system dropped its evap temps down to -60C and stayied there

looks normal?

i think last time the amount of icicles was less(when my unit couldnt drop the temps lower than +17C)

gonna install the mach 2 gt unit in my rig sometime in the future or i may just sell the unit...(just a though as i think ill keep the unit even for the good old times...who may come again ;))

Don't know seems very odd you need to get it under load maybe before you had a blockage in the cap tube or some thing
