To upgrade or not

Hi all
I have found myself with a little delamere I have the chance to get hold of if I want a 7920x for good price , my question , is it worth the effort of up grading my x99 rampage v/ 6950x or just stick with it

The 7920x is better but not by a huge gap maybe 20% I guess it depends on if the extra cores are worth it, if you have a use case that needs it or how much it is going to cost and if you did switch what your do with the 6950x.

Personally I'd stick with it and upgrade to something better further down the line if your not in huge need the 6950X is still a strong chip your good for a while yet I feel.

If the cost of upgrading was similar to a ryzen 3k system then I'd lean towards the ryzen tbh I'm on first gen Ryzen and it was a huge upgrade for me over 2500k and so the more modern ryzen would be a good upgrade.

I feel atm tech is moving forward faster there will be a lot of cpu's coming out over the next few years so newer will be stronger just depends on if it's worth it to you now.

Had a look and it's basically the same sort of spec as the 3900x. Only it's pretty old tech on what I assume will soon be a dead socket. So as I said, the 3900x with a very good X470 board should set you back about the same.

So it's not worth it, as cheap as the Intel now sounds (well compared to its launch price any way).
