well since my evga p55 ftw 200 with a i7 860 is failing, i need to rebuild. i only built it a year ago and unable to be rebuilt same. i don't want to end up in this boat again where i have to rebuild 1/2 of my pc because of a mobo failure. some my question is with me on disability and $160 a moth to put into parts, what is my best bang for the buck. would i be cheeping out to much on a LGA 1155 build vs. a LGA 2011 build. s far i think the LGA 1155 will be the best bang for the buck. ill stay evga loyal because my board was fine till lighting surged my system. yes it is messed up but its been working 8 months since

LGA 1156 Build Idea:

EVGA P55 Classified 200

LGA 1155 Build Idea:

Intel Core i5-2500K

EVGA Z68 FTW w/ EVGauge and ECP V4

LGA 2011 Build Idea:

Intel Core i7-3930K or Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition

EVGA X79 FTW

The best build for your $$$ is the 1155 build.

Sucks about your speakers.

yeah anoyed about speakers but nothing i can do but laugh. the 1155 build what im guessing is best its upgrading 2 parts and gives me future upgrades but wanted opions since my cash flow being so tight

1155 is your best bet. Go for one of the cheaper Z68 boards or P67 as they have most of the toys (USB3, SATA3 etc.) but you don't have to pay for the stuff you don't need. I'm not sure about EVGA, maybe that's because I've just had a bad experience RMAing a motherboard, but I guess it's your choice.

ARGH1 my 280s just failed i patched it together agian, just frustrating. would a ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 be a good power/budget option???

Yup, I'd definitely recommend the Gene-Z, but you have to understand that some of the ATX boards are similarly priced. You mentioned that you'll be planning for XFire in the future, so I'd think a board that has slightly more options for additional PCI/PCIE cards if you were to have any. Will you be using the same case you're using currently for the new system? The Gene-Z will be feeling small in the case if you have a full tower. For now I'd highly recommend going for a 1155 based system.

Three weeks ago I go to their EU site and look for the SLI bridge that I was missing. They don't have any in stock. So I email them explaining that I need one desperately and do they have anything they can help me with, considering I am using their board and a pair of THEIR 295s.

Know what I got? "Check back in a couple of weeks we should have them in stock then".

So I ended up buying one on Fleabay.

However, I go to their site tonight and out of interest created an account.

"Sorry, we do not ship to the United Kingdom". So the (rude word) would have had me wait three weeks only for me to find I can't even buy the thing any way.

evga??? yeah if it works out the box but u have problems evga sucks i found thst out with my evga p55 ftw 200 im havin to replace

They're a two bit company by all accounts.

I did some research a while back and it seems they are small fry. So basically you're better off with Asus MSI or Gigabyte.

this is so weird, removing the 1 280 card made my p55 ftw 200 work better. still not 100%, but maybe 92% reliable now. im now thinking maby it was my gpu cards or psu casing the problem. do any of u think thats posible and worth trying to get a 3gb 580 and a corsair ax1200.

i do a lot of multi-media work as well as mild gaming. the reason i fear of going 1155 is it going to be obsolete soon

No it isn't.

If you think for one minute Intel are stupid enough to ditch it for 2011 only with boards that cost over £200 you're mistaken.

Just like how 1156 stayed around all the time 1366 was.

No one is going to pay £250 for a board to put a Celeron on.

i got most my parts in my brothers will when he passed away. i been having stability issues till recently. i had reviewer gtx 280s in sli. i had lot of crashing problems or even blue screens. my speakers failed recently and i did a test of going to a single 280. now its been 2 days and hasn't given me any big problems id say it still only working about 92% but way better then it was. my brother was a beta tester and pushed his components far for testing. im wondering if my psu and cpu's are faulty from when he was a beta tester. so my question is should i consider a single evga 580 classified air with a corsair ax1200 to try and extend my PC life???

A single GTX 580 even OC-ed wouldn't need anything close to the 1000W mark. A good 750 - 850W will be optimal. The AX850 is a great power supply you could look into.

With the money you save by going for an LGA1155, hell you could even buy an Ivy bridge next year (although I doubt you would really need to).
