Titan Black Won't Be Black

Here's the first alleged picture of NVIDIA's GeForce GTX TITAN Black, a high-end SKU NVIDIA is working on, to restore the competitiveness of the $999 price-point it commands. Although referred to as "TITAN Black," the card is nowhere close to looking like the CGI renders that surfaced last November. The board looks identical to the original GTX TITAN, except its "TITAN" etching on the cooler shroud is painted in black. The GTX TITAN Black maxes out the 28 nm GK110 silicon, featuring 2,880 CUDA cores, 240 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 6 GB of memory. It also features full DPFP for the GK110 silicon, which is exclusive to the GTX TITAN, within the GeForce range.

NVIDIA is expected to give the GTX TITAN Black a low-key launch some time next week.

For the average gamer this card is absolutely pointless and would be no better than a GTX 780Ti in almost every game. This card only really comes into it's own with compute load and that is the only reason I would accept anyone buying one of these.

Regardless of its use. I always look forward to the benchmarking enthusiasts who pick these up to show what it can do.

Maybe Kaapstad will get 1 or 2.. or 4

That's not the dude who wasted his cash on the kingpin cards is it?
no that's the dude who wasted his money on 4 290x, 4 Titans and 2 690s.

This reminds me though, Alpenwasser has had his Titan for nearly a year now and the build is still not done. I wonder where he is actually.

no. he bought the 4 290x cards to go with his titans and his 690's

I guess the money is only wasted if you can't afford to do it. I have a mate who bined 30+ 8350 CPUs just to get one that did Super Pi 32M @8GHz, paid for every one with his own money. Never even got the 8GHz CPU but got mighty close with 7.968GHz though XD

i asume he was running a dice pot for that.

In all fairness to Kaapstad though. He is a dedicated benchmarker and also maintains a few of the benchmarking software threads here. At least I know he puts these cards to good use or pushes the limits.

Good job really. Cos ther is No point in spending that much on gpu's just to game on. Unless ya really wanna go 4k eyefinity.

Kaapstad is a bencher guys, lay off him. :P

I'd buy one of these....

....totally :S

I mean think of all the ladeez you'll earn
