Time for a new build

Hi guys, I've not been about much recently due to uni and working etc etc. But i'm looking to build myself a new rig, I need a full rig from case to monitor. I've been out of the game for a good 2 years and I need a crash course in how the market is looking at the moment..

I've had a quick scan through and using my common sense and prior knowledge i've put together the following system:

  • Corsair Carbide Series 500R - £94.20
  • 2GB PNY GTX 770 Overclocked - £329.72
  • 8GB Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Arctic White - £71.76
  • Intel Core i7 4770K - £239.00
  • Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H - £179.84
  • 1TB Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda - £44.87
  • be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 - £53.24
  • 240GB Corsair Force Series GS - £167.09
  • 860W Corsair AX860 Full Modular - £148.63
  • Asus VN247H Black Super Slim Full HD LED Monitor - £164.88
  • Asus DRW-24F1ST DVD - £12.83
  • Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit OEM DVD - £72.97

The whole system comes in at around £1650, obviously i'd like to get that price down to as low as possible but money isn't really an issue so long as it's below £1700. Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated especially in the money saving/not loosing performance area.

Patrick.

Looks like a very good set-up, you've done your research :p

Only things I'd change are the case and the HDD. The WD Caviar Blue 1TB should be about the same price, but I'd personally MUCH rather have a WD drive in my system than a Seagate one.

That case is a tad overpriced. For even less money you could get something like a Fractal Define R4 or the Arc Midi R2. Really good quality cases, with a window and radiator support.
