Throttling Drawbacks (VM)

yep,

from the network and sharing center window I went to Change Adapter Settings and 3connect was still there, and has been removed, as far as I can see now 3connect Is nowhere in my machine......

Control panel/Network and Internet/Network Connections only has 1 thing. 'local area connection' which is Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 pci-e Gigabit Ethernet....... aka my LAN driver.

I have 2 ways to sort it....
buy a wifi card
reinstall windows

obviously I don't want either of these options, and really want a wired connection

Sorry I meant physically from your machine has the dongle been removed. I had issues couple of years ago with one they reinstall them selfs when you reboot.

yea, that's out but I can see me reinstalling it just so I get internet back......

lol, and here's me thinking it would be straight forward......
man I hate that yellow triangle

Try the following:

  • reboot both router and pc
  • try ping bbc.co.uk and then ping 212.58.246.103
  • are you using McAffee by any change?
  • log in the superhub, go to advanced settings and MAC filtering and make sure your pc is not blocked there
  • can you try connecting another device via wired ?

Try the following:

  • reboot both router and pc

Done this a lot of times, completely powered down and left it for 10mins

Reply from 192.168.0.2: destination host unreachable

  • are you using McAfee by any change?

    Nope, Avast.

  • log in the superhub, go to advanced settings and MAC filtering and make sure your pc is not blocked there

Attached devices are Mathius-PC and Android device. MAC filter list is empty.

  • can you try connecting another device via wired ?

I could but the other PC also runs a 3dongle. and the last thing i want is to kill the internet on that PC aswell

if I can find a easy way ill get a ipconfig/all but without anyform if internet currently in the PC its tricky

quick fix

I will do, but its not going to be for a few hours....

I do have an old laptop I can test the wired connection on, again that will be later so we'll see how that goes....

I bought 2x cat6 cables and that quick fix link I posted ....may not be the best wifi solution but is only a temp fix until wired is sorted.

Mods...
Thread Titlle Change please?
(VM) Throttling and Connection issues

...more inkeeping with the thread direction....

I dont know if I'm happy and glad or even more f***ed off. :(

Last point I used the computer was just after 3pm (*this is when wired wasn't working but wireless was), since then I've been on the school run and looking after my 3.
I left the router on and shut down the PC and carried on using my phone connected to the wireless....watched a fair few of toms vids that I've not been able to watch and just basically waited till after the kids were in bed.

Dug out my laptop, blew the dust off it and booted it up.
Tested the wifi, success.
Tested the network port, success.

At this point I'm thinking great, the fault lies somewhere on my motherboard or network settings.
Yanked the cable from the laptop and shoved it into my desktop and booted up to get the ipconfig/all screen, next thing I know the yellow triangle disappears.

Success, and fully connected.

Average speed on my 3 dongle was:
Ping : 60ms
Download : 6 Mb/s
Upload : 2Mb/s

and now:

So thanks for everyone's ideas in the troubleshooting, what should have been a straight forward plug and play type thing, corrected itself

I've been curious about throttling and have read the details on VM. I haven't actually seen much throttling if at all and I and my house mates are very heavy users and can rack up 7+ Terrabytes a month

Personally i cant stream any more due to their new upload caps. Pain in the arse as i now need to get 120mb to actually continue streaming.
