Thermaltake Chaser MK-I vs Cougar Evolution

so as the title says im trying to decide between these two cases. This will be my first ever gaming PC build, so i dont really have any previous knowledge on cases or really any preferences. ive seen reviews and whatnot on both cases (obviously including the TTLC review on the Cougar Case) and they were all pretty favorable to both but still cant decide.

what i like about the Cougar case is the fact that its cheap. im putting quite a chunk of money into this case, and its nice to not have to spend gookoo bucks on something. its a nice case overall, but i honestly dont care for the look. i like the design of the window more then the second case, and i like that is can have seven 120mm fans. and while i dont like the honeycomb of the front, i do like the its kinda slim, not beefy, and can fit where i plan to put it.

as for the Chaser, i do like it slightly better appearance wise. but only slightly. it is a little bit bigger then the other case, which is both a good and a bad thing. not a huge fan of it being big and kinda beefy, will take up a little more room where i plan on putting it and there isnt a ton of room to begin with, but its good for expanding and whatnot, and since this is my first build, the future is important because idk where im going with it. maybe ill do W/C someday, maybe i wont. maybe ill OC, maybe i wont. this whole build is kind of revolving around letting me be able to do just about everything if i wanted to. which is kind of what makes me lean to this case. its bigger, it can support W/C and yea, but its also almost (not quite) double the price of the first case.

Cougar Evolution

Thermaltake Chaser MK-I

so ya, any opinions guys? any of you own either of these cases, or can you see anything that makes one case an obvious choice over the other? for those who have worked with a bunch of cases, lend me your wisdom. i appreciate all your help opinions and time

Cougar has better fans.Thermalbreak fans are a joke.

I like the cougar more.

Did you have a look at the fractal design arc midi? That is the best case in my opinion at this pricerange.

Mate no Termaltake. In this price point you can get:

Silverstone RavenRV02, RV03

Corsair W/B 600T, Carbridge 500R W/B

Fractral Design Define XL.

I would agree with kilobravo based on what you are saying you might wanna look into Fractal.

Nice size Mid-tower with plenty of room and options for expansion.

great! i appreciate the feed back. if you guys are up for suggesting cases, then perhaps i should lay out a few things i do kinda want in a case.

as i already said, the possibility for expansion is good since i dont know what ill do with it in the future. that said, i dont need the biggest case on the market with 10 PCIe slots and XL-ATX frame and whatnot.

another big thing is fan filters, preferably removable. its not a necessity, as i dont think the Cougar has removeable ones and i was considering that, but any case with them gets brownie points lol.

this may seem stupid, but i really want a case with a side window. i just think they look nicer. if it has both a side window and a side fan then all the better, but at least a side window

and lastly, if its going to have LEDs, only Red. i hate how Blue LEDs look....on that note, id also rather have a Black case. just preference.

i hope this isnt like "wow this kid is a picky snob" or anything. its just my first case, and i really want a case that has what i want and that i can enjoy.

as for the cases youve mentioned. i didnt really like the Silverstone cases. not sure how i feel about everything being rotated and whatnot. plus with the window being on the opposite side, it would be facing my wall
tongue.gif
....the 600T ive looked a at and considered. id have to buy the aide panel with the window for the black one, which would put it in the 650D range, i like the 650D, but thats near my limit for price range for the case. the Fractals all seem to be nice cases, great prices, but no side window. and i dont see them selly any side panel options on their site. it may be something ill have to go with out....i wont be building this for another couple of months so i have plenty of time to consider all my options.

thank you all for your help. its very much appreciated and its great to talk to ppl who know a lot more about this and what to look for then me.

If you wanna case with space for rad and side window than go for 650D even if its near your price range limit, cuz case its really good.

Also RV03 have window on correct side

If you worry how it looks like when everything is rotated shearch for "h20 green raven" in Rig Gallery.

it i was gunna go up to the 650D in price, i would have to consider the HAF X as well. hell its cheaper then the 650D. though not sure if i really want/need a case that big, so it might be worth it to spend that tad bit more for the 650D just to get a slightly smaller case.

that green Raven looks amazing bro, great job on that. deff going to look into the RV03 now because of that!!!!!

look at the CM sniper or 932 there great cases the sniper has filters the 932 does not I'm about to open my case today after 2 weeks in the 932

Thanks mate , happy that you like it.

RV03 is great case, watch Tom review on YT. It took me 3days to make this case looks like this

HAF X is great too but for me look a bit to beefy. For air case RV03 will be better than 650D because of the rotated mobo.

its a nice case, but it seems a little complicated. and im a first time builder so im not sure how comfortable i am with this case.

so far im still liking the Cougar if for anything cause its cheap. i really dont wanna have to spend upwards of $200 for the 650D or the HAF X. great cases, but ya, high in price imo. but then again, beggars cant be choosers. the more i nitpick at the case, the more im going to have to spend to find a case with everything i want.

Coolermaster CM690-II

A great quality case with loads of space, watercooling options (space for two thin 240mm rads) and a simple look. Has a button to turn the fan lights off, so no worries about the LED colour. Also has an optional windowed side panel, and there's a version with a USB3 port on the front panel floating around.

You can put a thick 240 rad in the bottom if you take out part of the hard drive tray (it's removable). This is what I am doing in my build.

it is a nice case. i think most case reviews i see mention that CM case at one point or another. i do like that more then i do the Thermaltake case. so i guess it would be between the Cougar and that CM case.

i like the RV03 case too, but it seems a little complicated to me. esp as a first time builder

i dont think the case itself is cheap, as in cheaply built. its not the best case in the world, but im liking it a little better then other cases i look at. the one case that i like as much as it is the 650D which is double the price of the Cougar. and the HAF X which is like twice the size and price!!

the reviews are pretty solid for the Cougar case. Tom gave it a pretty solid review on YT.

and the HAF 932 was my very first choice for cases. decent size, nice features, and a price i could settle with (anything under $200 id settle with, but ya doesnt mean i want to spend that much) except it has no filters. which is an issue on a high air flow case. ive talked to a few ppl with it and most said that it gets pretty dusty in there.

ive pretty much looked at all CM cases, esp the Storm series. the Storm Trooper is another nice case imo, its just up there in price.

and at the risk of repeating myself, i really appreciate you guys helping me out. i realize im kinda picky on a case, and for you guys to help me out, esp since im new here, means a lot. thank you very very much

very nice case bro!

the only thing about the Sniper is it has no side panel window. i like the window cause i can see the inside of my case and maybe put some LEDs in there or something. at the very least i get to see everything i paid for which i just like.

the Storm Scout would be better, but lol being picky again, i think thats TOO small. its smaller then the 650D, Cougar, Sniper, everything ive looked at lol.

and yea, ive been told about the Elysium before, but thats just too expensive.

lol i make this to hard for myself i think

Mate in Rv03 is nothing complicated, its exacly the same as normal case but rotated

Installing all the parts is easy as in normal case like 690II.

In 690II is decent case for the price, you can also get the side panel window for it easily.

I will say Rv03, 690II or 650D nothing else.
