Thermal Paste beetwen cpu pins

erm...the obvious question is how? The pins are in the socket...and unless your really cack-handed I fail to see how it got on the pins if you put the TIM on while the CPU was out of the board...

it shouldnt really matter if it was only a little tiny bit, unless its conductive (thinkin AS5)

yeah mate you should never put it between the pins as this warning courtesy of the AS5 websites shows you:
