Thermal grease on VRM and Memory modules

For the EK-FC7950 and EK-FC7970 Ive read that it is recommended put thermal grease between VRM and memory and the thermal padding.

Would there be big temperature difference with Thermal pad vs Thermal grease + thermal pad, for VRM or Memory modules?

Considering how tiny VRM's are I would rather not put but if there is big difference I guess I need to consider MX-4 on them.

When i done mine i laid the thermal pads on and then With my thermal grease i basically just tapped the end on top of each pad to leave just a little bit of paste, Seems to have worked a treat for me anyway card stays a good 30c below its Air temps before. And i only used the XSPC k2 branded paste that came with my raystorm cpu block. Adding a little bit like i did cant do any harm really

So you have the grease between block and pads?

This I think I can do.

I thought the recommendation was to have grease between pads and card which I'm not comfortable with because the VRM usually are wery tiny.

I read the manual for EK and it states to put grease on the VRM, I ended only putting grease on 2 VRMS on the 7970 and skipping the others.
