IC Diamond is meant to be the best of the best. The MX-4 is supposedly pretty good as well.
isnt IC Diamond the one that's a torture to clean off? also is it conductive?
I'm pretty sure it's none conductive. I'm not sure about the first question as I've never used it. I've only read that it is the best. It always pops up in any topic about thermal compounds and it is always stated as being the best. Having said that, the temp difference between the top thermal compounds would be a couple of degrees at best, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've only used as5 and I think it's pretty good.
You could try the artic cooling mx-4, supposedly its better than the as5, its none conductive and doesn't have a "break-in" period.
ive used noctua a good load of times and its pretty decent (i dont get it for freebut bought 5 tubes) but i use mx4 a good few times a week and so far through experience its top of the line tim nothing beats it personally![]()
so is mx4 newer or older than as5?
much newer its the newest in there line and replaces mx3 as there flagship tim, its a bit thick and more difficult to spread but i dont spread mines i dollop it and let heatsink pressure spread it so viscosity is no issue at all
and is completely unconductive so no worries about gettin kit ruined with it
Phobya is a rebranding of Gelid GC Extreme. It scores extremely well in tests. I think Tom uses Noctua NT-H1.
