Well it is a solvent so it should work or I've been putting lighter fluid on my CPU for no reason both are highly likely.

Lighter fluid is a solvent and is fine but some have oils in them which is left behind after the rest evaporates so make sure you give the CPU a good clean afterwards.

lol, I guessed as much, but it is the first time I've heard anyone using it.

isopropyl alcohol is fairly effective.

Use tissue, but always feel bad about doing it cos of the fibres that can be left behind.

On the sink I like to use a cleaner, particularly on those dumb arse coolers that have pipes with aluminum between them. Those crevises get mucky. If the plate's nice and flat tho, I'm not too bothered.
