Your lucky to have that for an option of a speed upgrade i don't even have that choice, I can only get one plan from my ISP.

They were once :/. You know they're now owned by Facebook, right? If there was one company who'd mess with that app behind the scenes (for example change the end to end encryption type to something easier to crack) it'd be them.
If you all had your tinfoil hats on properly you'd not be using big commercial VPN companies
. Still, its a MUCH better idea than no VPN though. I'm surprised a bill that has something to do with computers in a relatively current day situation has been understood by our Government. They still don't seem to have any clue about the internet/how computers as far as I've seen.

Well i can't use a VPN and it makes my internet like crap unless you know of a VPN that doesn't make your internet like crap.
I think your GOV got that idea from the Australian GOV cause they make ISP's here keep records of internet & phone calls they have been doing it for over a year now.

Probably not, Theresa May has been trying to push this through for years, now she's PM it seems she's finally got her own way.
She needs to go.. the f**king world is going mad, it's like the plot to a movie where some external influence is trying to destabilise the global powers from within... except it's actually happening...
But the beauty of independence is that any law or acts can be repealed and abolished, that is not possible in the EU without all members states agreement. I'm indifferent as to whether this 'Snoopers Charter' is a good thing or not, in theory it can help track down certain threats but it most definitely can be abused.

Probably closer than you think. Unfortunately. UK/US/China/etc all spy and etc. It's not going to stop, they use the excuse "for the protection of our country".. yeah suuure. China just does it openly though so credit to them for being blunt
