So I am going to rebuild my system now, as I just got it custom painted. I thought i would start off with some pics of the paint job. The shop that does all the work on my car does full restorations, and so I asked the shop owner who he used for paint (they restore old muscle cars, Maserati, really high end stuff. if i ever have enough cash to restore a car i would go to this guy for paint), and I had that guy paint my case. Needless to say its a bit overkill on paint quality, but it sure is pretty. I went with a deep amethyst pearl-coat. Ill keep updating as I go along. Enjoy!

So here is the 650D before hand.

yes that is an 80 gallon fishtank in the back, or two fourties with tubs connecting them.

He really took his time around the latches, the only place where there was too little clearance with the paint was around the power button. I had to take a razor around the edge of the inside of the front panel to remove some paint, but it made no visible difference to the exterior.

My one qualm is that the paint is a bit dark, sometimes its hard to tell its even purple. But in the light it certainly does pop. some of you might be able to predict the color of the fans I ordered...

You can tell you went to somewhere very special to get that paint job, that's top notch stuff! Has the interior been painted too?

And thanks! All credit goes to the painter, all i did was hand him cash.

I considered getting the interior painted as well, but since he just paints cars I did not want to push my luck. He really took his time, and so know I would not worry as much about getting it done, but i was unsure how he would manage since he had never painted a PC case, not to mention that the costs involved would have skyrocketed. But i might get it done this summer. After I post the completed pics ill tell you what color. But for now i have left it straight black.

Tbh i'd have left the interior standard too due to cost, looks stunning as it is. Now you just need to put in some awesome hardware and your all set.

For now I'll just be throwing in my year (mostly) old hardware, But its no pig. 1100T @3.9(NH-D14), 6950 2GB, 2x500 GB Caviar blacks, Sabertooth 990FX, XXX 750 Silver, and 8GB 1600 mhz. It still runs great, so I am waiting as long as I can before a major upgrade this summer. Perhaps a switch over to a 3930k and a custom WC loop, with a second 6950 and a new PSU/MOBO.

But for now i am happy with the paint.

The paint job looks super awesome mate. I would love to do something like that for my 650d

Thanks! Well the 650D is a great case for it, because it is such a minimalist design. If you wanted it done professionally I would take it to a local car restoration shop if you know of a good one, or even just a car body repair shop that does good paint work.

I think the black interior looks really nice with the purple. I would leave it as is, especially considering the extra costs.
