The GTX 1080 Ti may have 10GB of VRAM

The games coming out now are truly pitiful, they really are. Mind you, some of the early DX11 stuff was just as bad in hindsight. I think about the best launch game for performance was Dirt 2. Everything else took way more power and didn't look all that clever.

What is funny though is you could hack Dirt 2 and enable all of the lighting and shadows, DX10 would take care of it. The only part you couldn't have was tessellation which tbh was pants in Dirt 2 any way.

I think people were expecting miracles of DX12, when in reality it's a bit crap really.

Gears of War 4 turned out all right—but definitely not great. Doom stands out as an accomplished title. Overwatch works well, too. The last great game, however, that comes to mind is The Witcher 3. That had a few problems like any release, but in all it was extremely well made. Another gorgeous looking game that runs well is Battlefront.

Hated Witcher 3. Just bored stupid by the story tbh. It's a crying shame, because I know what a marvelous game it was supposed to be but it just didn't offer anything to my interest. It was a marvel though, absolutely stunning.

Not tried Overwatch, looks a bit erm, "young" to me.

I do remember playing the original GOW on the PC though (before Microsoft done a bunk) and it was glorious in DX10. The lighting was just amazing.

I haven't played The Witcher 3 yet, but from what I've seen it's stunning. I'm not usually into that type of thing, but I'll probably play it for its glorious design.

I think the last game that blew me away completely is Max Payne 2. That was one of the first games that showcased a dynamic world. You could run into a barrel and it would fall over and role. Then came Half-Life 2 the year after and I feel like the gaming industry hasn't made any major leaps and bounds since then. I'm sure there have been and all I need to do is think harder, but I definitely don't feel we're in the golden age of gaming. 2002-2007 was probably the golden age for me.

You must not have played the previous games, because it all connects and just makes sense. I was mind blown tbh. Easily tied for my favorite game of all time.
If you did play previous games, then you might not have connected all the dots? Idk, I like the fact that old characters can appear in the game from W2 depending on how you played it. That makes it more fun

I haven't played the first two Witcher games either and my brother explained to me how you could quite easily jump into TW3 without playing at least the first one. He said I should play TW2 just because it's awesome, but it's not necessary to enjoy the third one.

You don't need to. But I really recommend it. I only played 10hrs of the 1st one, because the 1st act is soooo boring(rest is amazing from what I hear), but you don't need to play it. The benefits of playing both just gives you backstory/history/character development/etc and in 2 it continues on. Lastly in the 3rd it all comes together and you get really attached to everyone. Or at least I did.
But again you don't need to. If you didn't I would suggest reading all the character Bio's as you meet them to get a feel for them.

Yeah, I can't see myself playing the first Witcher. I started watching a play through and it wasn't my type of thing. The Witcher 2 still looks great, but if I don't play it I'll definitely read up on things first. I remember it was a really demanding game to play at the time with max settings.

Lol, love how this thread has gone from potential 1080Ti specs to Witcher 3 and it's franchise.

It's all about those off-topic conversations, yo. Since when was life ever 'on topic'? This is another side topic altogether, but I hate when forum police go around saying, 'stay on topic, people'. It's like saying, 'don't be sporadic or show any creativity or dynamism, just be straight and narrow.' I've moderated large forums for many years so I know you can't let a heated political debate about Trump's hair cloud a thread on your favourite water cooling pumps, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of random spit and spat.

Although, I fail to see the relation between Trump and watercooling?...
