so specs atm

cpu: intel 17 920

RAM: generic 1066mhz

GPU: radeon 5850

MB:sabertooth x58

OS: originally windows 7

current windows xp

Sohow the story goes started my first build ages ago lol but the cooler that was on the old packard motherboard was inhouse and didn't fit anything but a packard x58 board so i'v waited over 2 months looking for a thermalright silver arrow just cause gettin a d-14 seemed too easy lol and i wanted to be different:P. The point I put my system together and tried to reinstall windows 7 with the disk supplied but it won't recognize it at all think the disk is either key'd to the packard motherboard(comes in packard packaging so dunno) or it is a damaged disk(there is 1 scratch it could possibly be). So it basically just kept crashing cause there was new hardware. so i dug out old copy of xp and installed it and it booted fine i installed soundcard drivers all is good networkcard all good got to the amd drivers for 5800 installed fine restart and the problems begin whenever i try and boot up it gets past the lil windows start logo of it loadin goes to go to the log in screen and crashes restarts itself and loops this process. so i assume it;s a driver problem is there any work around or any idea what causes it i even looked for the windows xp version.

just while I'm here do microsoft replace damaged disks? lol

have u tried unplugging any unessecary items, like usb or anything, printers etc,and booting without?

What you could do is try booting to safe mode, and attempting a repair from there, just hold f8 just after the system posts.

And maybe if your lucky you could try a system restore to before you installed drivers, chances are if you used a disk for drivers they could be out of date or corrupted and/or not installed properly.

drivers downloaded off the site to usb on laptop then installed on usb due to lack of internet connection initially. tried safe mode somehow still crash unsure of that one cause it should run core drivers only not amd's. only way to get it working again I'v found is to format the HD and do total new restall. this i have done 4 times today lol
