Hey guys, was reminiscing with a friend about my PC gaming origin story and though it would be a great idea to start a thread where we could celebrate the games that got us started on our PC gaming journey and the games that get us to continually upgrade our PCs.
My First Proper PC Game
The first game that made me really want to own a PC was the Command and Conquer Generals, being the first game that I ever played on my family PC and later my first laptop.
Most of the time I played this game was at between 15-25 FPS with lots of slow down when the action heated up, but being young and amazed by the experience I was still willing to play all the games campaigns and a lot of skirmish mode.
This game was one of my staples well into my PC gaming life, playing it on my first custom built/ home built PC in 2010. Which is a PC I had shown on the forums here, though sadly the pictures did not stand the test of time.
Rules of the thread
- Games must either be the game that got you into PC gaming, the first game you played on your first personal PC or a game that you made a major PC upgrade for. Examples are below.
- Upgraded to a HD 7950 from my GTX 460 768MB so that I could have enough vram to play Skyrim with texture mods and a higher framerate.
- Upgraded to a AMD 1090T (that I did overclock) from a Athon II 445 so that I could have shorter load times in turn changes in Empire Total War and Civilization V. (Though admittedly it was mostly so that I could run SolidWorks well for Uni )
- Images must be 700 pixels wide or less. You can link in larger versions of the images, but we want this thread to be easily read and used be those with slower internet connections.
