The Day Before launches on PC with "Overwhelmingly Negative" reviews

Is it fair to the developer to blast a game to the public to emphasise how terrible it is, when its only early access?

If something is just launched in early access, often its in poor shape. To publicly slam something helps re-enforce the gamers to stay clear of this, even if the developers fix/redesign all of the major issues. Its something they can sometimes never recover from, and articles like this are a contributing factor to its downfall. It doesnt matter if you say "when bugs are fixed we will take another look if its worth giving a chance". The populace is so fickle that the games fate is already sealed.

Had it been a final release, I could understand, but I think you are just assisting in poor publlicity of the developers in 2023, where we see lay offs left, right and centre.

When purchasers themselves give a negative review that is another thing. Some may think that ok, these guys didnt like it, but perhaps I will. When an article viewed by thousands is seen, I think it exacerbates the issue massively.

While I do agree with you, This "early access" game has been in development for 5 years apparently and comes across as nothing more than an underwhelming demo, I have to wonder what they actually did for 5 long years.

IMO they shouldn't have announced it at all and taken another year or so for development time.

Thats a fair point. And I agree with you, it should never have been released at all. But I do wonder if theres pressure to do this kind of way of working due to funding. CG seem to have mastered it with Star Citizen.
