Finally I pulled my head out of the computer screen made up my mind on what I wanted to buy and headed out to the store this afternoon. A big thank you to all for supplying excellent info in the threads on this board. Just remeber I'm building a computer for not just playing games but for the rest of the family to use. So having said that I know there is way better stuff out there, but for the money that was spent it should do. Here is the list.

cpu- AMD 1090T Black Edition

mobo-Asus crosshair formula

cooler- Noctua dh-14

vid card- MSI 570 gtx

ram-8gb g-skill ripjaws

hard drive- 2x 1tb Western Digital caviar blacks

ssd-120gb OCZ vertex extended

case- NZXT Phantom black

psu-XFX 850w modular

So far I have everything mounted and started to run the cables. I dont realy like how the sata3 ports are right under the vid card as it is crappy trying to get my hands in there to plug the cables in. I should have run the cables then mounted the card in its slot.I need to buuy an extension for the cpu power cable as the psu is mounted on the bottom of the case and my cable reach's , but i would have liked it a bit longer.Thats it for now. I will update tomorrow when everything is completed and running

Thank You.

Does that motherboard have an nVidia chipset? I dont believe it does. Meaning the Graphics card will not work.

Its 1am here in Vancouver and was franticly searching the net looking to see if the graphics card would work with my mobo. It better. I think when Tom did the review of the crosshair extreme he was using a gtx card ?

It will work, the only problem you'll run into when using nVidia cards, is that the motherboard might not support SLI, so if you are going to use nVidia especially on an AMD board; since they almost never have the SLI enabling chip, it does limit your future upgrades.

Id stick to a single card if i where you anyways, its all good. Nice to see an AMD in use!

BUT

as tom says... pics or it never happened!

I assembled everything, hit the power button and everything ran perfect. After loading windows and updating all the drivers it was time to use it. Its running excellent. Played a few games and then watched a couple of shows and have to add that it's a big diffrence from my old set up to this one. The system is alot quieter than I had thought it was going to be. I havent added any extra fans that what came with the case. The Noctua cooler is so quiet its amazing.I will start to experiment with some overclocking during the week. The Six Nations tournament is starting this weekend so I will be glued to the tv.
