The announcements at Stanford (or any other site FAH related) thread...

Well of course you would agree, being the owner of 2 470's that are currently getting smoked by 460's

I don't think it's all that easy to do....

I wouldn't say getting smoked. What are you guys getting on a 460? I get 15k PPD on a 470 at stock clocks. I thought the overclocked 460's were hitting about the same.

From F@H fourms.....

We'll take a look. I do see an issue and that stats updates will be down until that is fixed.

Please note that this only affects the stats reporting on the web site. The stats themselves are safe and are being recorded for new WUs as they come in.

Was going to make a new thread but figured I'd just post it in here..

For those of you who are unaware, a F@H Donor Advisory Board has recently been created to help bridge the gap in communication between the Pande Group and regular folders. Unlike the foldingforums, it is intended to allow questions and concerns to be fielded directly to Vijay. This happened as a result of some issues that occurred between a [H]ard beta tester and the FF forums. It was eventually brought to the attention of Vijay that the FF are not sufficient for addressing folders' concerns about the project, and Vijay was agreeable to the concept of such an advisory board to be created.

Here is the official [H] link: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1564721

Though there are only a few people on the board from a few top teams, the point is for all teams and all folders to be represented. We should be able to voice our concerns to any of the representatives, who can then pass it on to Vijay. With that said, it sounds like most people's concerns regarding the project right now are well-known, including the points system, the lack of updated project descriptions, and a more transparent beta system. So these are probably the first things that will be talked about during their meetings. It remains to be seen how successful this will actually be, but I think it's a good first step to addressing the problems of F@H (mainly lack of communication) and it shows that at the very least Vijay does care about what we have to say and he is willing to try to work with us to fix them.

wow thats really good news and deffo think it warranted its own thread

if this works like it should it could be the end of the wall we keep hittin out heads on with duff wu's and wu's that should be on kept on/off flags, lack of bigadv's etc

stepy the reason this has come about IMO is that the mods and site admin are a bunch of callous, indifferent, butts. I know riot has spent time there and knows of what I speak. I think a direct line to Vijay is a great idea if he has the time to devout to it. There is a lot stuff happening and generally the response from the mods/admin is not well received at the fourms, but if Vijay comes in and does a little explanation it is generally well received and peeps are grateful that he cared enough to respond.

I do hope this is a step in the right direction as the project has lost many powerful folders recently due to various issues....

yeah as u prob know im not very much in the know about the politics with f@h i just soldier on but it does sound like progress on a screen at least and we can all hope that it works and the folders who left come back they might not be on our team but they are all like us working for the same goal

I pretty much stopped visiting the foldingforums because of what steve said, and he is right. Now I get most of my information from the forums of the top teams and it works just as well. A big reason why this came about is because a beta tester folding for [H] warned some of his teammates against purchasing GTS450s for folding, because of the lower scoring WUs that were about to be released (you guys will know them as the 6800 and 6811
laugh.gif
). He never gave any specific information and was not under any nda, but he warned that the new WUs would decrease the points for GTS450 and even the GTX460 (this is the same information that I relayed back here in one of these threads). He was subsequently removed from the beta team without explanation or chance to defend his actions. He quit F@H briefly, but after talking to Vijay changed his mind and sparked the creation of the advisory board. I should mention he was eventually given an apology by the FF mod who removed his beta status.

I have also learned that the entire beta program is run by FF, not the Pande Group. This can be problematic for obvious reasons..

Time will tell just how successful the board is, but it's nice to know at least Vijay is aware of the problems of the foldingforums.

Good to hear something is happening. I've lurked FF to keep up on thing, but a certain mod there drives me insane. People come with honest questions and he just shoots them down with his elitist attitude. Not someone you want representing folding, that's for sure.

Let me guess and I only get one....7im???

He is helpfull at times but generally a big negative, I don't think he has been a mod for quite some time, but posts as one

I do hope the new scheme works as what is there is a big downer, we are the ones spending the $$$$ only to be told we are fools or idiots because we can't read between the lines or don't frequent FF enough to be informed.

Well for sure my life doesn't revolve around what comes out of those forums and those arrogant asses need to realize that. (FF not PG, although PG needs to wake up too).

My .02$ worth of opinion from a 60 million point + donor that is just as frustrated/pissed as the rest of the F@H donors......

lol, the one and only! I've almost quit folding many a time just because of his crap. I stopped visiting FF a few years ago solely because of him. Folding can be frustrating enough with crappy WUs and unstable clients, but when you add someone like that to the fray it can become quite maddening.

The only things that have kept me going are the team and the science. Some days I don't think it's worth it, especially when my temps skyrocket in the summer months and I see my electric bill, but if this even leads to one cure it will all be worth it.
