I took the advice you all gave and dialed back my overclock. I decided to just pick a low target voltage of 1.150 and see what the best speed I could get out of it. I managed to get a solid 4.6 ghz which is 400 mhz slower than what I had at 1.35 volts, but this is actually lower than the stock boost setting so I shouldn't be shortening the life of my cpu. This 4790k is pretty good I don't want to kill it.
