Testing your antivirus

I found this on a forum and thought i would post it up here.

tested with nod32,quarantines file on save.

THIS DOES NOT HARM YOUR PC IN ANY WAY.

Do you want to test how fast your Anti-Virus Scans/Reacts to file creations?

Do This:

1. Open Notepad

2. Write this in one word

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

3. Then save.- optional step 3-1/2 save it under the name eicar.com

4. If the very moment you saved the file and your anti-virus immediately respond to it! then jump for joy! your anti-virus works!

i just added optional step 3 1/2,you can try that and see if it catches it then.

Yup that got it.. Instantly.

Never knew my pc could respond that quick save and alerts everywhere, good to know avg works.

I have NOD32 on my normal PC just tested on the daughters with AVG it doesnt even react!!!!

Good old Eicar test.. there is a url for it

Edited first test to change it to eicar.com you missed an r I wasn't sure if AVG would grab it but sure enough after a couple seconds it popped up.

Mine deleted it whatever I did to it or saved it as

NOD32 caught it when I saved it as wee.txt

As I said AVG did not seem to pick it up first but on restart it caught it.
