Tencent's Rebranded WeGame X Gaming Platform Launches Worldwide

I'd even be one of the people saying if it's exclusive I'll skip it, wouldn't trust it not to spy on every thing you do

I find the Chinese spy paranoia stuff regarding any company incredibly ironic. Do people really trust American & British companies over them? Britain is literally the surveillance nation of the world & America seems to need 10 different independent "information agencies", the Chinese are just catching up on the rest of the worlds spying habits. Western governments attack these companies because it compromises their own underhand intelligence efforts, the Chinese government doesn't care about random American citizens, and those Chinese companies don't even have crap to advertise to them.

I find it hilarious the amount of times I hear people tell me that my phone is spying on me because it's a Huawei phone.

The last conversation I had with someone included:

The Chinese government was reading my text messages
Recording all my internet usage
Recording all my phone calls
Noting what app's were installed and used at what times of the day
Using my GPS in it to monitor locations I had visited to try and see if I went anywhere with sensitive information such as government sites etc
Using the camera in my phone to record video footage of me walking around the streets, in my house etc

I have had people who when I go round to there house insist on me turning off my phone or leaving it in my car as they don't want to be spied on by the Chinese government

Meanwhile they are all happy using Facebook, Google, Amazon Echo's, Samsung and Apple phones.

Yes there are some things with Huawei that are suspect and I cannot comment on what I know about some stuff, but the way people act about the Chinese hardware and software just makes me laugh.

Yeah I also use a Huawei(Got a Nova2 for £160 a year ago since it's decently spec'd for what I use it for, small enough for me to not constantly drop it and had Project Treble support), what confuses me even more with this is how it's only selective Chinese companies, but if it's say Lenovo (Motorola, ThinkPads, ect) it doesn't seem to matter. I owned several Moto G models before this phone and from the G3 they were all Chinese manufactured, as is most of the Western laptop market nowadays.

Even more ironic when you consider the fact literally every Google certified Android phone tracks your location and uploads your location online with a timeline as a standard default-enabled feature, as well as your search history, advertising history, contacts, call history, ect

It's fine when Us'uns spy on us because they are one of us. If they are one of us'uns, they can't be as bad as them'uns, right?

We can't have them'uns spy on us, because they are one of them'uns. HOW DARE THEY SPY ON US'UNS!

It's been called for before, and I am gonna say it again where is the like button!!!

Tencent also owns a decent chunk of Epic (40% IIRC). Let the conspiracy theories about the Chinese subverting the gaming industry begin!

I'm glad you enjoyed that.

Yeah, and as said in the article they own RIOT outright and have stakes in Ubisoft and Activision Blizzard. Tencent has a lot of fingers in a lot of pies.

I was waiting for the typical "its chinese, careful it doesnt spy on you".
Didn't expect it to be the very first comment...

I'll go one better.

User complains about being spied on.
Users posts to Facebook, instagram, imgur, Snapchat story, what they ate for breakfast, lunch and evening with pictures.

User complains about Chinese devices aren't trustworthy
User keeps all historical google searches because they are too lazy to wipe cookie details or historical urls visited for the last year.

User complains about big brother spying on where they are.
User gets pop up from phone and says yes to all apps requesting location information and access to contacts and pictures gallery. Then proceeds to switch on location pinpointing via Snapchat and messenger so the world can see where they are.

People complain about privacy issues, but they slap their entire life on social media for anyone to see. It's moronic.

I can say no to all of them I even clean my browser and search history, I do go on FB but only because I went to boarding school and it's the easiest way to keep in touch when you have friends spread out all over the country, but I don't post when I take a dump or eat, and location is switched off on my phone it hardly ever goes online and I have 100 minutes that I never use up a month

Not gonna lie I intentionally keep my location tracking turned on, it's helped me out when I've been mugged before and I really don't trust myself to make it back with all my possessions and a clear memory of where I went even on a relatively non eventful night out, there's pretty good reasons its on by default imo, but to be honest 95% of the time all that tracking data will show is where I live, making it about as useful as a spying tool as a yellow pages.
