After we reviewed the Tannoy Reveal 402 Studio Monitors, we have a look at its big brother, the Tannoy Reveal 802.

Tannoy Reveal 802 Studio Monitor Review

Bleedin' hell , they look like normal size bookshelf speakers in the photos (with nothing to really scale them to), then you see the monsters behind TTL in the video.

I'll watch the video part in the morning, but before I head off, just wanted to let you guys know that the first picture has no link which doesn't allow us to enlarge it. The 2nd pic to the right works but when enlarging it it's all pixelated.

But based off this written review, these are some wide and thick speakers! It's stubby:wub:

Will buy. These sound exactly like what I'm after. All my current speakers are good for are shaking my desk at certain lows.

Fixed the link, as for the pixelated images: I took a screenshot from the video to get those, as there are very little images available. That's why they don't look good when enlarged ;)

I know this might be an apples to oranges comparison, but how would you compare these to the Microlab Solo 7c's? (which I bought on your recommendation and absolutely love). Clearer, better soundstage, more/less bass?

I'm a budget audiophile / casual gamer. I love using speakers for gaming (can't beat feeling like you are actually in a battlezone with bullets flying about). Headphones just don't give me the visceral immersion I'm after.

The following is my opinion (and the opinion of others) on the Tannoy Reveals. I am not saying that it is a fact that they suck, I'm saying that it's my opinion that they suck.

These studio monitors are GARBAGE. Read the user reviews by users. Look at all the hate Tannoy gets on their youtube videos for these.

I went through a studio monitor phase. Presonus, Yorkville, Tannoy... The Tannoy Reveal 802 were by far the WORST studio monitors I have ever heard. Absolutely disgusting. They are so muffled and so lacking in clarity that they sound like your music is trapped in a glass jar with the lid screwed on tight. My $200 Presonus Eris 4.5 sound better than the $660/pair Reveal 802s. MUCH better.

I submit, for your consideration, that TTL has no idea what good sound is. He had them hooked up directly to a PC for crying out loud. Even if he was using a Xonar STX.. garbage. I had these hooked up to a $650 USB DAC with a proper expensive 90 Ohm cable and I was using $130 interconnects from the DAC to the Tannoys. Sounded like garbage. Don't believe the hype folks.

If you want muffled sound with almost no treble response. Speakers that sound like they have blown tweeters. Bass that sounds whompy and as far away from tight as you can imagine, and a sound that cant decide if it wants to be cool or warm, dark or bright, buy these. You won't be disappointed.

Oh did I mention that the amplification is so bad that they BUZZ all the time? You can be not using them and sitting 4 feet from them and the BZZZZZZZZZZZZ is intolerable. A gutter-rat product from what has become a gutter-rat company. Tannoy needs to go out of business. All their new stuff is a joke.

BTW this review was written poorly. 50W per speaker? Who wrote this? They are 100W per speaker. Each speaker is individually amplified.

Also... "They will sound good with dubstep, rock, or whatever..."

No, I'm sorry. No. It doesn't work like that. One speaker is good for jazz, another is good for rock, another is good for EDM. You don't get true jack of all trades speakers until you spend upwards of five thousand dollars.

I can't take these speakers or this "review" seriously

Well you started this an ended it all on the first paragraph, as you said it's your opinion....sound is subjective an what one person hears another might not. Having an opinion is fine, however does not give you the right to be an a**
