Hello all

I'm building a new silent pc and i m thinking to buy the asus motherboard P8Z77-V, as i can see asus offers some things like the TPU plus SMART DIGI+ wich offers CPU Wattage Cut in Half.. and Fan Xpert 2 which offers Fan Auto Tuning Mode including an RPM Fixed Mode for users who wish to reduce noise levels to near 0dB which is a great choice something that i havent see to any other mobos.

The thing that i dont undertstand is the LucidLogix Virtu MVP, it says that When the discrete graphics card is not required, power consumption goes automatically down to near zero, making the system more environmentally-friendly and silent. where do i have to conect my display and which "silent" vga cards do you recommend for this use?

I'm not a hardcore gamer and also i dont plan to oc my pc.

thanks

You can use any graphics card with it, all it does is switch off the GPU (well near enough) and uses the IGP (graphics chip) on the CPU.

so do i have to conect my dislay with a single for example dvi cable in mobo's dvi and not to the discrete graphics card?

any recomendations about a silent graphic card?

You just connect through your GPU, all the processing is done through the IGP and it just sends the picture through the GPU.

The only silent graphics cards are ones with passive heatsinks but non of them are good for gaming.

As Sieb mentioned above the passive GPU's aren't good for gaming. If you want quietness, Powercolor and Sapphire make fantastic non-reference AMD cards with dual fans which keep the cards cool and quiet. If you go the Nvidia route the reference cards seem to be quiet, but there's non-reference cards too which are even cooler and quieter
