Swiftech H220 pulled in the U.S.

*sigh*

I'm really getting sick of all these patent wars. I wouldn't mind to be proven wrong on this, but I don't think there's *anything* on the H220 that Asetek has invented. Just the fact that they were one of the first to take several components, put them together and sell them as closed loops gives them the right to claim it theirs?

I do not agree.

That was a Rockefeller and Apple move. Take out all competition and take control of the market. Really lame how just because your revenue drops you're forced to do this but it's business and everybody is shady.

i find it sad how anti-consumer so many businesses are.
these patent wars are denying many of us choice.

the h220 is pretty much a combination of several of their existing products (albeit with a few alterations). i cannot see why as a single unit the h220 could infringe on their patents and not more of their products? especially given asetek are not he only people making these all-in-one units.

hopefully this will be thrown out of court or this can be resolved in a way which allows both products to be sold. i can see why asetek have made this move but i do not condone it!

well it seems to be a "timing" issue as the patent was granted 08/2012 on
both the '362 and '764 while Swiftech was "in development" and was a
continuation of other patents since 2006 ('362) and 2009 ('764).

so H220 was already "infringing" just not publically, till the releases of H220
and the patents.

it sounds sucky for Swiftech, but an idea has some value.
sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes, the bear will eat you.

having gone through "infringement" and patent development it is tough
to be original since the first patent in 31-07-1790.

we should have china's i think it is or maybe japan's patent/copyright thing that, if its the same but better it don't matter as long as it progresses the item in a good way, it would get us where we need to be at easier than patent trolls fucking all industry over

It's really sad how U.S. businesses conduct themselves now a days.
If someone else comes out with a similar product and the market shares drop for the first company , it's time for a lawsuit.
I'm not sure if I'm going to like the H220 , but I'm glad I got one while I could.
I want to do my own comparison between the H100i and the H220.

love it ;) apple have been going the same thing to Samsung, apple know they lost so the are trying to "hurt" an every way they can.

From what i heard a while ago in the US market Apple has lost market share to Andriod smartphones and it is continously losing share. Maybe the same thing happened to Swiftech? Though to be fair Apple has sued everybody even before they became a huge company.
