Swapping ram ?

I am changing my ram, today from 8gb of corsair vengeance, to 16gb of the avexir Mpower. I no I don't need 16gb but I like symmetry, and it is basically half price at the monment. So is there any process of swapping ram ? Or is it just a case of out with the old and in with the new, and hope it posts ? If it doesn't post go through the hole 1 stick at a time, until you find the problem ? Cheers guys.

Should be as easy as out with the old in with the new. I would recommend going into the bios and making sure your ram is giving you all the readings of what you paid for.

Yes, just pull out the old sticks and replace with the new ones. Like said above, enter your Bios and make sure your ram is set up at its rated specs, either by entering the settings manually or with XMP if your memory provides the function.

Just make sure to revert any overclocks you might be running on your old RAM to stock before inserting the new ones.
For shits and giggles I omitted this step recently when changing my RAM (i.e. I inserted the new RAM sticks with the M/B still set at the old sticks' overclock) and the results were... uncooperative

As of now with the Corsair all I have had to do is set the XMP profile to on. So out with the old in with the new its then. Then just a case of checking the bios. Cheers guys.

The ram was delivered, on time as usual DPM are spot on for their times. It was a case of out with the old and in with the new. Fired up the rig posted first time, and she is up and running as she should be. I wasn't sure about the ripple effect of the yellow lights, but it kinda looks like the rig is breathing. It is almost making me think not to reuse my white led strip, I like the dark look with just the ram lights on. maybe a couple of single yellow led's here and there just as accents. No point in any pics, they just don't do the ripple effect any justice.
