Suprised over Haswell cooling.

Si I've finally had some time to play with my new toy, and I'm overly chuffed on how well my i5 4670k is performing ( out of box state ) Before upgrading I heard all the horror stories on them running hot, and deliding would almost me a dead cert, but i'm pleased to say I seem to have a good one up till now any way. I have just run OCCT for 45 mins, just a regular open and run linpack and my results were :
LOW 32 30 29 28

HIGH 57 56 54 51

With this British heat wave we are experiencing I was expecting results to be a lot more scary than they were, so I'm a happy bunny.

Mosta 420 up front St 30 360 up top both in push pull with Akasa vipers all at 7v,

You're watercooling... of course it's going to be cooler. Once you hit about 1.3v then talk about how good your chip is as at that volt range most chips skyrocket in heat.

Yep I have mate. I've gone up to 4.2 @ 1.050v and the temps seem pretty good to me, considering according to my room thermostat my ambient is at 26, and the temps are, after 45 mins of prime,

LOW, 34, 32, 31, 30

HIGH 63, 62, 60, 55
This is my first actual overclock thinking about it, my Z77 rig was never together long enough for me to be happy with having a play, I'm going to leave it for now, and go and do some more watching / reading and get back to it tomo

I would find the point where temps skyrocket and just as close to that as possible should be your final overclock settings. Don't want to kill the CPU quickly. That's my personal opinion at least.

Yea I don't want to take it too far at the moment with this heat we are having, plus I don't want to run before I can walk.

Delidding IMO is a waste of time. For gaming purposes anything above 4.3-4.4ghz and FPS gains seize to go up. Delidding will allow you to go for higher clocks but for a general purpose gaming: not worth it. More risks are there than potential gains.
