hi.

some time ago i heard it was possible to receive a note when a mail arrived to its destination.

i found out it isnt possible with outlook express that comes with xp but is there any good third party email client that supports this feature ?

Regards

Raven

I believe Thunderbird supports delivery notifications - either that or Outlook (non-express).

It is worth mentioning that the delivery/read e-mail notifications depend on the recipients mail system and client. if they don't support it, you wont get a notification.

i think normal outlook is fairly good, but remember as jim said, that receipts are not part of the email protocol, they are client depending, and hence some wont always work.

no its not receipt im thinking off.

its way past bedtime so my memory is abit...foggy but as i remember the conversation it was possible to get a message from the destination server and not the user itself.

the message basicly said the mail had arrived.

also remember someone claiming that outlook that comes with office can do this.

a receipt tells a mail has been opened and thats something even outlook express can handle.

took alook on thunderbird but from what i could se it only had receipt but will take a closer look hen i had some sleep.

I use Microsoft Office Outlook and I believe it supports what you are looking for but am not 100% sure as I dont use that feature :nono:

Basically what i said earlier. Outlook does support delivery reports, but it depends on the recipients e-mail server if it sends the report back when it arrives.

Even then you can't be 100% sure that the e-mail has arrived at the actual recipients mailbox as many e-mail systems (such as yahoo and companies with lots of users) have several mail servers which relay email to each other internally before it finally arrives in the recipients mailbox. You will get an delivery notification when the email hits the first server, but not any of the servers after it.

i know so i will se how hard i have to kick my friend to borrow one of his office cd's, he has 4 and uses 3 of them as far as i know.

Apple Mail! The best e-mail client of all time, muahaha. Oh wait, u have Windowz. Ummm, I would have to put my vote down for either Thunderbird or Eudora, I've used both in the past and both are exceptional clients. Outlook (non-express) isn't bad but it seems way to cluttered with useless crap that the average person doesn't use, it's more geared toward schedules and office productivity/management imo.
