Stripe Sizes

Setting up a raid array... and wonder what size stripe u guys use ?

Ive tried 16k and get MUCH lower results in HDTach regarding average transfer rate than 32k , while burst and seek times are identical :s

Im tempted to go back and redo 32k...

Been trying to sort out nlite XP... hence i just tried different sizes while i was on ;)

I would have thought running a smaller stripe size would only really be beneficial if running more drives instead of just 2. Of course running larger stripes could allow some drives not having to be accessed as fewer drives are needed to store data therefore those drives could be used for other tasks and thus improving performance.

I've never actually tested the different stripe sizes myself but when I ever run AID I used to stick with 64k like Mav.

If you are look for the best performance then it depends what file size you are going to be moving most, for small files you want a small stripe size and the larger the files you are moving the larger the stripe size you want.
